Seriously, are we on vacation yet? I am so looking forward to this fall break, and desperately need just a few days to unwind. Things are wonderful, but the holidays always bring a bit of chaos to my life. Wednesday can’t come fast enough, that’s for sure.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.45 miles, walking
Nobody likes getting after it on a Sunday, but I did it anyway. It was freezing, and I’m glad I grabbed an old sweatshirt on my way out the door.

It was a nothing special kind of Sunday, just catching up on all the things we missed throughout the week.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.67 miles, running + walking
- Strength: 50 minutes, arms + abs
And here goes the grind, again. The clouds threatened rain but I made it before the drizzle started.

From there, of course I hit the gym. At this point, we are almost at 30 days of strength training, and I want to keep pushing.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.47 miles, walking
- Strength: 50 minutes, legs + abs
We had kind of a crazy morning planned, so I went out super early to walk, came home to help drive to the dealership (our SUV needed some recall work done), went to the gym with Mr. PugRunner, and then walked home. He had a longer workout, and I was able to beat him and kick into some of my things for the day.

As you can see, it’s still dreary and gross. Ugh.
On a brighter note, some of my friends and I (and our boys) went to bingo night at one of our Publix stores. It was an absolute blast and we have it scheduled to do again!

Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.5 miles, running + walking, 3 miles, ARC trainer
- Strength: 50 minutes, arms + abs
The rain drove off J, my running buddy, so I headed out on my own. Since it was wet, I cut things off quickly, but then I decided to try the ARC trainer at the gym after my upper body workout. It’s a little different than the elliptical, and I enjoyed it as an alternative cardio method.

In the evening, I screwed up my courage and went to a networking event for local creators. I found this particular group a few months ago on social media, and I loved how they tried to connect with people, even providing a guide for introverts on how to navigate the social. Last month, I wasn’t able to attend, but this month, I figured I would give it a go.

It was difficult and uncomfortable, but by the end of the night, I had met some really incredible and talented people, and am already looking forward to the next meetup.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3 miles, walking + 2.15 miles, ARC trainer
- Strength: 50 minutes, legs + abs
Another gray and dreary day. I got in my miles, and my gym time. Last day of the week! And then I brightened things up with a red cup from Starbucks! Yay!

I ran errands most of the day, and was glad to be able to knock that off my list.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.11 miles, running
TGIF! I had a rainy run.

And then we dug into the day. Mr PugRunner and I both had meetings, and then we went out for lunch together.

When A got home from school, we decided to head to dinner and a Jacksonville Icemen game. Mr PugRunner had a rain check from last year (we never went because he was so unwell), and this was the makeup.
Saturday
- Cardio: 3 miles, walking
I had limited time this morning, since A and I both had to be at the dojo at 9AM. I did what I could.

When we were finished, A joined me while I did a small product shoot for a client, and then it was home to chill and wrap up some work. I have one project due that I just can’t seem to find inspiration for, and then I will be in a decent place.
Thoughts + Goals
And here we are. The week before Thanksgiving. We don’t get the whole week off for school, but we will make the best of it.
Our traditions will also be a little different this year: we aren’t cooking for Thanksgiving’s but instead, have dinner reservations with friends! Crazy, but exciting! One thing that will remain the same is that we are running a turkey trot, and I’m stoked for that.
I want to take on one more race before the year is out, but timing isn’t in my favor. Even though marching band season is over, A has several concerts on the calendar. First up is the regular all-arts event, where he will play in both wind ensemble and jazz bands. Then, he will be part of the all-county honor band, where he was one of roughly ten students selected from our school to play with a band, comprised of all the schools in the district. Finally, the jazz band will play in downtown St. Augustine for Nights of Lights. The life of a band family is never boring!
How was your last week in training? Are you traveling for Thanksgiving? Did you get a red cup?
Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

Busy, busy! No vacation for me next week, lol–when you work in healthcare, there is no downtime. That is, unless you plan to take the time off. I’ll have some time off over Christmas, but I save most of my PTO for vacations.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
I only have Thursday off and I am running a Turkey Trot! Not cooking… going to my MILS for take out.
I save my PTO for running vacations. Going to Tampa in a few weeks for a long weekend.
I don’t think of Thanksgiving week as a vacation. I actually have a lot of work deadlines and then have to fit in making that pain-in-the-ass pie and other cooking—but it’s all worth it!
Enjoy your week!
Sounds like a solid week considering your always crazy schedule! And congrats on almost 30 days at the gym. You are awesome!
Have fun our your vacation. Even short it helps!

To answer your last question first, I did not get a red cup but my husband got one for me! It was kind of funny because he doesn’t usually go to Starbucks, but he happened to go on Thursday, and when he got home he was like “So they gave me this? You can have it if you want.” Ha ha, so I did get a red cup after all.
It looks like you had the same gloomy weather as us this week. I can’t say ours was “freezing” though- send some of that our way!
We finally finished marching season- our team was in the playoffs so we had some extra games, but now it’s done. Now we have all the holiday concerts coming up!
Looks like you had a nice week, and great job keeping up with the strength training!
I love that he “let you” have it LOL!
We are so ready for holiday concerts! It’s going to be great!
And yes, we had that gloomy weather! So gross.
No turkey trots here, but I plan to run with some friends.
A networking event like that sounds very stressful for me- I’m so impressed that you went. That is seriously very brave! And it sounds like it was worthwhile 🙂 You rock Jenn!
It was so stressful, but I’m looking forward to the next one.Now I know what to do and what I can get out of it, so that makes it easier.
Enjoy your thanksgiving week celebrations with friends and your turkey trot! Full house over here just the way I like it
Love to hear it!
No Starbucks here = no red cups (I seriously had no idea that was a thing, LOL). We’ll have a smaller than usual gathering for Thanksgiving this year, due to the oldest daughter flying to Charlotte NC to hang with the youngest (yay for them, boo for us).
Aw. I hope you have a wonderful time, regardless.
Sadly my only day off this week is Thanksgiving Day but I’ll survive, hopefully! Haha! Thing 1 will arrive this morning and Thing 2 is off school on Wednesday so let the fun begin! I have a red cup but only because my personal barista brought me one! 😀
Booo! I hope you have a great time!
That’s a great week of strength training and cardio.
I would be super nervous about a networking event like that! I’m very introverted in certain contexts but not in others (ironically not when it comes to singing in public). Glad you enjoyed it in the end.
So what is this hype about a red cup?! I have no idea!! But then I never go to Starbucks (we don’t even have one where I live).
Enjoy your time off and your Turkey trot! Here we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but my husband is running his first half marathon.
It was so scary, but I’m kind of excited about the next one.
Oh, the red cup. Every year, Starbucks puts out a free, reusable holiday-themed red cup. I collect them, semi-casually.
I’m not really into celebrating Thanksgiving, but more into celebrating with friends and family. I hope your husband has a great first half marathon!
I’m super excited to have the kids home from college, and hopefully we can fit in some fun between my daughter working and my son doing homework! But yes, we WILL fit in a family turkey trot 🙂
I love it! Have the best time!
Wow, you had a really busy week! Have fun at your turkey trot!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Always, lol!
