Happy March! The third month of 2024 means International Women’s Day, Spring Break, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter! So much celebrating! But before all the fun begins, let’s pull up a lovely coffee (iced for me), and catch up with each other.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That I am super bummed about the upcoming weather this weekend. I was so excited for the Gate River Run 15K, and I pinned my hopes on a pretty day. This is the best I’ve felt running since my accident and subsequent surgery, and I needed a big W on Saturday. Of course, there’s nothing to be done about it, but soldier on, and I will (with caution for the slippery bridge grates), but it’s disappointing all the same.
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That our Spring Break plans took a bit of a nosedive, so I am making my own fun. I have a list of things I want to do, see, and eat in the local area, and I’m treating myself to several of them. My flexible schedule means that I can head out during the weekdays when A doesn’t have school, and as long as I get my work and writing done, I am free to enjoy all the things.
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That my laundry room project will be almost finished today! Our handyman is coming to install all the counters and shelving! I will go in and stain the wood when he is done, although I still haven’t decided if I want to do natural like in this photo, or dark. There’s time to think about it, but I’m so excited to get those shelves in and organized! Then I can move on to the garage!
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That I found my next race. And I’m in because the medal is an actual potato. I’m obsessed with potatoes, and there is no way I can skip this event. The Spud Run is always a great time (this is the one where all runners get a bag of local potatoes and a head of local cabbage!), so I’m excited.
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You That…
It’s crazy that summer is almost here! It seems like we just rang in the new year. For some reason, I’ve felt extra scattered and disorganized in 2024, but I think that’s just the way of things right now. Hopefully, clarity will come soon.
What would you tell me over coffee?

LOL on the potato medal. That is pretty spectactular.
I hope the weather clears up for you despite the dismal forecast — otherwise, I hope you can find a way to embrace the suckiness of it. 😉

Oh I hate that the weather will not be what you hoped for your race. I hope you still have a great time and a strong run! Your spring break plans sound fun. And yay for your laundry room! My husband and I did ours. We purchased the cabinets and pantry at Lowe’s unfinished and painted them and then made the shelves to go over the top of the washer and dryer and a small folding area. It was a fun project! We stained ours walnut and it turned out really pretty! The Spud Run sounds fun!

A medal with a REAL potato?! That’s amazing! A spring break stacation sounds fun! Sorry your plans fell through but I wouldn’t mind a little staycation right now 🙂
Darlene S Cardillo says
We have a spud run up here but I’ve never run it.
Good luck with your big race. In FT lauderdale when I was there, 100% chance of rain for race day and it didn’t rain until after the race. Maybe I should have gotten that race over with. Now I have to decide for nextyear.
I love your schedule. I have to work 8-4 so running early or late. Boo!
Debbie says
Oh my gosh that potato medal is both amazing and hilarious at the same time. Ugh on the rain this weekend with the race you are so looking forward to. Fingers crossed that it will dry up for a few hours or at lease be light during your race. Good luck and have fun!
Michelle says
Love that potato medal – definitely worth the run just for that!
Sorry the weather is not cooperating for your race this weekend. Fingers crossed that the rain stays light — Good luck & I hope you have fun!
Kimberly Hatting says
The potato medal is one of a kind, similar to the creepy hand from my Spooktacular 10K last October. Hope all goes well with your race, despite the weather. My Leprechaun Chase 10K is looking warm, sunny…and crazy windy. Two outta three ain’t bad, LOL.
Deborah Brooks says
I ended up having some fantastic races in the rain! You might surprise yourself. Plus’s-the weather is always wrong Good luck and have fun!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
You can’t control the weather – sometimes running in the rain is fun. Jump in the puddles and enjoy the race. Remember how much fun it was to play in the rain as kids?? Have fun!
Marcia says
OMH YOU NEED THAT POTATO MEDAL! So fun! Sorry the weather is not cooperating for this weekend’s race. Just be careful and be glad it isn’t a marathon. Ha!
Jenny says
Oookay, well I think I’m the perfect person to commiserate with over bad race day weather! Maybe it won’t be as bad as the forecast says? We all know, forecasts can be wrong! I hope you end up having a great race, regardless.
Sounds like you’re determined to make your own fun this month! There’s a lot to celebrate in March (like Kim’s and my birthday… just kidding.) And I know- I’m starting to freak out about summer because I have almost nothing planned for Angie. Yikes!
Zenaida Arroyo says
That is an awesome medal! I also love potatoes. Yum!
Farrah says
Sorry to hear about the weather/race. :[ I’m glad you found another race already though and I am absolutely loving that potato, hahaha. I don’t even run but I’d want to run that one! (I love potatoes too. 😀 )
