The 128th Boston Marathon takes place on Monday, April 15, and we plan to celebrate in style! In less than a week, about 30,000 runners will take the route from Hopkinson to Boylston Street in Boston, to cross the famous finish line, claim a coveted uniform medal, and bask in the glory of one of the most prestigious races in the world. The action starts at 9:02AM with the men’s wheelchair athletes, and runners continue to cross the start line through 11:00AM. It’s going to be epic.
Pick The Right Fit
The colors of the Boston Marathon are blue and yellow, so it only makes sense to source your running wardrobe for things in those colors. I actually have a “Believe In Unicorns” tank from when I ran the Boston 10K, and another ensemble that will do the trick. I love to represent in support of the famous marathon.
Go For A Run
I mean, I’m not going to be doing any marathon on a Monday, but Boston Marathon Day is the perfect day to go for a run. I plan to head out for a 10K… 6.2 miles seems like a great way to start the day.
Fuel Up The Boston Way
Dunks is the Boston way, so get your favorite breakfast and coffee from your local Dunkin. I’ll probably go for a Cold Brew with Sweet Cream Cold Foam and a Boston Cream. It’s the perfect treat after a run and to sit down to watch the start of this iconic event!
Follow Your Favorites
Whether you want to follow the elites, or your friends and family, the 128th Boston marathon has an app for that. Download the app on your Apple or Android and get ready to track your favorite runners from start to finish!
Stream The Action
If you’re not going to be in Boston for the action, your next best option is to stream the race. Local station WCVB (along with its sister affiliates) will be airing coverage from 4:00AM through 8:00PM. National coverage will be available on ESPN2 from 8:30AM to 12:30PM. You’ll also be able to get updates on social media.
Details of additional television coverage.
Honor The Memory Of #BostonStrong
We will never forget the bombing of 2013, and the memory of those who lost their lives on that horrific day. In 2024. This year, at least three bombing survivors, and two law enforcement officers from that year will toe the start line to complete the course. You can also support charities like A Leg Forever Foundation, started in 2014 to help amputees who have lost limbs under tragic circumstances.

Great ideas! I would love to run the Boston Marathon one day. I didn’t know that there are “only” 30’000 runners, I thought it was around 50’000 like Berlin.
I’ll be tracking a few runners on Monday for sure!
runswithpugs says
That was a stat from last year. There may be more!

Ooooo!! I’ll fish out a yellow and blue outfit for Monday! I think I have a rest day scheduled but will swap with my Tuesday run so I get out there. Is there any significance to the 09:02 start? As opposed to just 9am? Curious! 🙂
runswithpugs says
I have no idea! I’m usually doing school dropoff at the start, so I don’t pick up until all the wheelchairs and pros are on the course.

Great ideas. I’ll never run it but I’d love to spectate one day. It’s a 3 hour drive.
I could wear blue and yellow… eat a Boston cream donut or even wear my Boston running shoes.
runswithpugs says
Oooh! Boston Running Shoes! I wish I had a pair!
Kimberly Hatting says
I’ll be at work during the day, so will have to sneak a few peeks in between everything that needs my attention. I do have some blue and yellow gear, though, so that may be the wardrobe colors of the day (at least for my Never Miss a Monday run).

Perfect!
Zenaida Arroyo says
That is interesting about the start time. I’ve watched it a few years but didn’t realize the odd start time. We should have a blogger meetup to spectate in Boston.

That would be so cool!
