I know we keep saying it, but how is it August already? Somehow, we keep moving through this year and somehow, time marches on.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Let’s raise of glass of iced coffee!
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That we had the best time in Chattanooga. I really adore vacations, and this one was the perfect mix of adventure, tourism, relaxation, and fun. A stayed with us for some things and did his own thing for others, which was different, but also great. I think we all got what we wanted out of the trip.
I would also share…
That speaking of travel, I got my renewed passport back! I was a little nervous because the boys got regular updates on their tracking and there was nothing for mine. Mr PugRunner even called the passport office who told us that theirs were processed and shipping out, but mine was showing as “received” at the office in El Paso, TX. Turns out, passports are sent to several different offices around the country at random. Ironically, after that call, mine seemed to move through the channels super fast, and I had my new and expired passports back to me before the boys.
With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…
That school starts up in just over a week! A is entering his junior year, and to me, that is wild. He has a parking spot and will be driving to school most days, and I feel like we’re not going to see him very much at all. Then again, he is living his best life right now and I can’t ask for more than that.
If We Were Having Coffee, I Would Share…
That the Olympics are kicking butt right now! I like the Olympics, but I never LOVED the Olympics (except figure skating), but something has happened. These athletes and supporters are coming out as these awesomely cool people with huge personalities. From Steve the Pommel Horse Guy, to the rave horse, to Bob the swim cap retriever, to Snoop Dog and Flavor Flav, to the U.S. gymnastics teams absolutely bringing the sass and shutting down all the hate, to the athlete who keeps making tiktok’s about the chocolate muffins in the Olympic Village… I can’t get enough! This is iconic behavior.
My Final Coffee Thought Is…
That it’s been a good summer. Of course, I didn’t accomplish half the things I set out to do, nor did I go to all the places I wanted. However, we did some news things, and we had a good time. That’s really all that matters. As fall (please, soon) inches closer, I’m excited to see what the rest of the year brings. For now, it’s been enough.
What would you tell me over coffee? How was your summer?

Yeah you pretty much blink and they’re grown up! Savor the next couple of years with A at home. Our summer had its ups and downs. I’m taking it all in stride and we’re adjusting our course accordingly.
runswithpugs says
Of course. Thinking of you.
Deborah Brooks says
Wow your schools start early! Where will be your first stop with the new passport?
runswithpugs says
We haven’t decided yet!
Erica @ erica finds says
Where will you take the shiny new passports?!
The stories from this Olympics are really awesome! I can’t get enough!!
runswithpugs says
I DON”T KNOW! K wants Greece. I want Canada or Iceland. But wherever it is will be great.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Your son has a parking spot? Wow! I don’t think anyone at my high school had one (except for the teachers). With new passports, where would you travel?
runswithpugs says
Yup! They are available to seniors first and then a lottery to juniors, dual enrollment (kids who go to both the high and local community college), co-op students (they intern off campus and take classes), and kids in sports/extracurriculars. He got a spot in the lottery and we pay $100 for it. There are about 550 available spots for students, and we don’t have nearly enough, so it’s a sore subject with a lot of people. But we are not in a walkable area, the busses are often delayed, and with kids working and going elsewhere for sporting events, it’s helpful if they can drive themselves.

Summer has totally flown by! Amazing that school starts for A soon. I’m trying to milk what I can out of these last few weeks before drop off. So glad to hear you had a good vacation!
Renée says
Sounds like you had an amazing trip! A is so grown up now! Doing his own thing while on vacation!!
Very exciting to have a new passposrt! I remember renewing mine and had to send all this original stuff to Dublin. Then NEVER getting an update at all. Was I going to have to apply for a new passport again? A new ss card? Then out of the blue it just arrived.
A has a parking spot???? GEEZ!!!
I am totally loving the olympics right now. It feels SO different than when I was a kid and I just found it boring!!
It’s ok that you didn’t get it all done this summer. I am not sure anyone did!
So where are you going with that passport hmmmmm?
