As the holidays get closer, it becomes easier for fitness to be derailed by busy schedules, events, and other external forces. This is a great time to introduce some challenges to keep you on track through the New Year!
Runner’s World Winter Run Streak
Run streaks are always in styles, and Runner’s World created the concept of running at least one mile every day from Thanksgiving Day to New Year’s Day. I’m not sure if they are formally continuing the streak this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t streak on your own! It’s a nice way to ensure you get your miles in this holiday season!
Healthy Holiday Challenge by Moms On The Run
Mark your calendars for December 15, when you can be part of the Moms On The Run Healthy Holiday Challenge. It’s free to join, and registrants will receive a bingo card of different fitness activities to help motivate you through the season! This sounds quick, easy, fun, and sustainable!
Run A Virtual Race With Gone For A Run
Gone For A Run offers a variety of holiday and New Years themed Virtual Races with amazing authentic medals, unique swag, and cool race bibs. Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year by proudly crossing the finish line! I love that each virtual event has its own charity partner, too!

I like that Healthy Holiday Challenge by Moms On The Run!
Looking at their activities – drinking enough water, eating fruit and vegetables, getting enough sleep – these are all easy to implement in a busy day.
Will you be participating?
runswithpugs says
I did sign up and hope to participate! I sometimes lose my motivation or forget to track!
Debbie says
I’ve not done a run streak because they came in vogue after I was too old to run every day without risk of injury. Like Catrina said, I like the Moms on the Run Challenge. I do something similar with the ladies in my balance and stretching class, just haven’t targeted doing it during the holidays.

That’s awesome! I bet it would be a great time to do something like that!
Darlene S Cardillo says
These are all great ideas.
I’m not a streaker… I barely have time to run several times a week and I am careful not to abuse my body.
But I agree that it is important to be healthy whatever that means to each person.
I need to drink water, eat more fruits and veggies and sleep more!!
runswithpugs says
Healthy is very subjective. I really do need more water. I just hate drinking it.

I can’t remember how many years I’ve been doing the RW Winter Run Streak, but I’ll be back at it come Black Friday. Actually, I’m also doing a turkey trot, and probably my usual Wednesday morning run, so I guess my run streak will have a few bonus days tacked on 😉

Yay for extra days!
