As November comes to a close, it’s time to dig into those runfessions! Of course, it’s Black Friday, which makes it extra special!
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
Let’s Start By Runfessing…
That my Christmas tree is up before Thanksgiving for the first time ever. I don’t know what go into me but it needed to happen.
Next, I’ll Runfess…
That I will not be shopping on Black Friday, unless it involves clicking “add to cart” on my computer. I feel like so many companies have already announced their sales, and I’m not about the doorbusters or dealing with crowds. I feel like Black Friday has changed a lot since the pandemic, and while it’s still possible to get good deals, it doesn’t seem like quite the extravaganza it was in years past. Either way, count me out.
My Next Runfession Is…
Speaking of Black Friday, let me tell you my plan. I will get up early and go for a run with J. We will go home, shower, and change into holiday jammies. And then she is going to come over and we are going to absolutely rot with holiday movies and do nothing. It’s not going to be aesthetic or pretty. It’s just going to be lazy. And THEN? We are making Irish Spice Bag and I could not be happier. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a standard Chinese takeaway order in Ireland (according to Tik Tok), with french fries, onions, and peppers, tossed in spices, and then served with a curry sauce. I’ve seen it served with fried rice and noodles, too, and I’m here for that as well. We are going to make the veggies and curry sauce, and then order sweet and sour chicken (sauce on the side), rice, and lo mein from our local Chinese place. It’s going to be beautiful.
I Runfess…
That I am a little nervous about this upcoming half marathon. I have until until February, and the whole race cation around it is going to be wonderful, but it’s intimidating. I haven’t run a half in years, so who knows how this will go! Needles to say, I’m not running this as part of a challenge this year. One race will do.
Finally, I Would Runfess…
That I am STRUGGLING for gifts this year. I don’t really want anything (besides running shoes, of course). No one else really wants anything. We have to sit down and discuss potential experiences instead. I love to have something under the tree, but maybe we can shift focus to other things. Meh. I’ll figure it out. It’s a good problem to have.
Well, that’s it for me! What would you runfess?

We’re so on the same page when it comes to these Black Friday “sales”! I think you plans J sounds like a much better way to spend the day – have fun!!

I’m excited!

I am all about shopping in my pj’s for sure. Enjoy your lazy day today! It is hard to buy gifts for older kids.

I did hit up a doorbuster sale but mainly as motivation to try on new running shoes — which I’m glad I did since the updated model of my Asics didn’t feel right—grr!
Can you come put up my tree? This is my best weekend to get it done, but I’ve got family here and a crushing work project and I need to get some shopping done, so the tree is not a priority yet.
Good luck with the race!

LOL! I’m on my way! I love putting up trees!
I hope you were able to get a little break.

How funny that we both runfessed that we put our Christmas tree up early. Yours turned out beautifully! Waiting for a new one to arrive was worth it! Hope your day yesterday with J was fun!
runswithpugs says
Thank you! I’m happy with it! J and I had a blast!

I did a tiny bit of online BF shopping (for myself, no guilt). My sis wanted to get something from the mall & it was p.a.I.n.f.u.l.l. I waited in line while she looked for the “second BOGO item” for at least 40 minutes. The clincher? She wants to return her purchases, LOL.
runswithpugs says
STOP IT! She would be on her own for that!
Marcia says
Yeah I’d never go to actual stores for BF but doing a little cyber damage is aok with me. I only got a couple of things though, and those deals dropped before BF actually hit. Your tree looks gorgous!
runswithpugs says
thank you!
It feels like BF really just doesn’t have the impact it used to. I was getting notice for “deals” all month. Meh.
