As 2024 winds to a close, it’s time to look back on the things I’ve accomplished this year. Honestly, there were quite a few hiccups, but there were also so many great things of which I am so proud.
I Added Three States To My 50 States Goal
That’s right! This year, we brought my grand total of states I’ve run to a whopping twelve! Slowly, but surely, I am chipping away! In February, we got to run a 5K at Mardi Gras in Louisiana. Next up, we took on another 5K on the riverfront in Chattanooga, Tennessee. And then we ended up with a hot air balloon themed race in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It’s amazing how things all came together for this to work out!
I Earned Some Post-Injury PRs
While I’ve never been a particularly fast runner, it was nice to see that my hard work has been paying off. Summer did me dirty with the heat and humidity, but I am motivated to get back to where I was earlier in the year. Training will be good, especially with the cooler temps!
I Racked Up Some Miles
It’s been a while since I actually set a number goal for my annual miles, but this year, between walking and running, I really cranked them out! Sure, it’s not the number that matters, but I am personally proud of myself for pushing every day. To date, I am looking at 945.24 running miles and just under 1275 walking miles! Amazing!
I Completed More Than One Race Per Month
This is always a goal I try to accomplish, and I am proud to say I tallied more than 12 races this year! In truth, I did not race in the month of August (it’s just so hot and miserable), but I doubled up on some of the others, leading to a grand total of 13! Yay me!
I Persisted With Strength Training!
It wasn’t always pretty or consistent, but my presence at the gym is ongoing! Do I still hate it and find it boring? Yup. But is it necessary for my primary goal of running? Also yes. And that’s all I have to say about that!

Great job…
For me it was an off year but it happens.
PW for most races and lowest annual miles ever…
But still happy with what did happen.
