I am currently in a season where I have to lean into flexibility, literally and figuratively. While it’s not difficult to do, it does take some restructuring and dedication, and, of course, time. Adjustments and self-improvement are worth it, of course, so le’s do it!

Stretch Your Body
During my regularly scheduled doom scrolling on social media, I came across a creator who spoke about staying flexible through aging. For some reason, it caught my attention and I watched her move through some very simple moves, like heel scoops, good mornings with a squat, cat/cows, and other similar movements. The goal was to keep the body limber as we get older, and I begrudgingly acknowledged my own stiffness. Over the last few days, I’ve been practicing some of these moves, just to ensure my neck, shoulder, hips, and knees stay mobile.

Stretch Your Mind
Another thing to consider as we grow older, is keeping your mind limber. Of course, we are all busy, but I try to live by the adage “learn one new thing every day.” For me, learning looks like reading, working on puzzles or brain teasers, and staying open to perspectives and experiences different from my own. It’s very easy to get stuck in our ways but it’s so important to hold space for new and different ideas.

Stretch Your Limits
Sometimes, it feels like you’ve done all you can do and you have nothing left. And while that’s a valid feeing, I’m going to counter with the reminder that limits were made to be pushed. There’s nothing wrong with setting boundaries and honoring that, but that doesn’t mean you should shut out the possibility of reaching just a little bit farther.

What are some things you do to stay flexible in mind, body, and spirit?

Oh, I love this post, Jenny!
Your last point really struck a chord—it’s so easy to fall into the trap of thinking we’ve seen it all or pushed our limits far enough. I catch myself slipping into that mindset sometimes too.
But you’re absolutely right—there’s always room to reach a little further, to step just beyond our comfort zone. There’s so much more out there to explore and experience!
I mean. We need to honor our limitations, but we should never give up. It’s a fine line!
