With Mother’s Day coming on Sunday, it’s a great time to talk about training tips for running moms. Parenthood can be a difficult and busy time, despite its joys, and adding an intensive sport into the mix can be stressful. We’ve got some ways to make it easier for you to get it all in!

Don’t Forget To Make Time For You
Moms often struggle to make time for their own hobbies and activities. After all, they are so busy doing all the mom things. However, it can help if you carve out non-negotiable time in your calendar. Work with your partner, family, friend, or babysitter to make sure you get out to train regularly.

Jogging Strollers Are A Vital Resource
I didn’t start running until my kiddo was much older, but if you’re a mother runner, invest in that jogging stroller. You’ll be able to stay connected with your child, while getting in those miles. And bonus? Running with a stroller is a great workout – imagine how much faster you’ll be on race day if you don’t have to bring it with you?!

Invest In A Home Gym
Getting out for extended periods of time can be tough for busy moms, so consider the benefits of a nice home gym. You won’t have to leave your house if you have a treadmill and some basic equipment in your actual house. And you’ll be able to work out during naps or downtime, with easy access to your kids if they need you. Everyone wins.

Include Your Kids
Your five year old isn’t going to be able to go on a ten mile training run, but they can certainly run to the streetlight, or the other side of the park. Break your runs down into smaller intervals and get your kids on board! You’ll get some of your workout done, and they might develop a love of the sport. Even better, you’ll get quality time together, doing something healthy!

Be Patient
To everything there is a season. It might be hard to achieve all your training goals while you’re actively doing mom things, but it’s not forever. Do the best you can, be patient, and enjoy the journey!
