And no. I’m not thrilled. It’s hot and muggy and humid. The now daily rain is great but it’s stirring up pollen so I am struggling through each day with a super fun allergy headache. Yay. But it’s pretty much summer and we are strapped in for a long one! Oh, and hurricane season opens on Monday, too! What fun!

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.17 miles, walking
I was up and at ’em pretty early. Not only did I have early morning clients, but I was moving into a new house for the week.

There have been so many deer, so close to the road. I didn’t even notice this mama and her baby until I as almost directly on top of them. And then I tiptoed away as quietly as I could so they didn’t startle.
Basically, the entire day was dedicated to relocating myself, feeding, watering, and pottying animals. From now until Friday, I would be watching a total of six dogs, three cats, and a parrot. Game on!
I also finally opened the book club box from my local bookseller. I wasn’t able to attend the actual book club, but I am so excited to have a murder mystery party game! The book itself got three stars from me, but I’d totally invest in a box again!

Monday
- Cardio: 3 miles, walking + running
I really did try to run, but I was exhausted and also felt so weighed down by the weather. Like it just wasn’t safe to overexert. Walking works. I also stumbled upon these running shoes dangling over the water hazard on the golf course. I’m curious to know the story behind that.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 3.14 miles, walking + running
Another day I just couldn’t get myself going. Grrr. Trust when I say I love what I do, but I’ve been burning the candle at all ends. Mornings start at 4:30AM to ensure that I get to all my fur babies in time for breakfast. And then I can’t fall asleep til almost 11PM. Things will shift on Sunday and I am looking forward to that.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.01 miles, walking
I think I’m just jumping for joy that I have an actual walk day for a change! Whoo hoo!

Thursday
- Cardio: 4.30 miles, running + walking
For some reason, it felt just the slightest bit cooler. Maybe I was delirious, or maybe I just needed to run, but I sucked it up and off I went. It was actually pretty great, with the exception of yellow flies. Ugh.

Friday
- Cardio: 5.11 miles, running + walking
And it’s Friday! Finally!

It was another kind of cool morning and I took advantage.
And then we had some emotions. It was the actual last official high school thing: a clap out and A’s old elementary school. Kids who attended the K-5 were invited to show up in their graduation regalia, and would walk through the halls with the outgoing 5th graders, to claps and cheers from all the other staff and students. Parents weren’t allowed inside due to security reasons, but they did march the whole procession past us and got a huge group photo in front of the school. And that’s a wrap.

Saturday
- Cardio: 4.06 miles, walking
I had a little reprieve this morning as I spent the night in my own bed. But I also had to repack my things and head right back out to one of my favorite houses. I still started the day with some movement. It was a busy morning: I saw a pack of wild pigs, a raccoon, and about four or five deer driving to my destination.

We also met up with a friend for his birthday. I could only stay for lunch and a drink but they will be going all night!
Thoughts + Goals
So. Here we are.
I’m using the time away from home to reset my nutrition. Not being in my own space means less access to snacks and mindless eating. I’m tracking myself, paying special mind to protein, and it’s going fine. There is no world in which I am ever going to crave cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt, but I also need to fuel in ways that are appropriate for the season I’m in. Sigh.
A’s moving day is ticking closer, too. He’s already got piles of things to take, things to leave, and things to donate or discard. It’s just surreal. He, however, is super excited, and doing great with work and keeping himself moving forward. Fingers crossed that the process continues smoothly.
