Well, we are back into the school routine, but it’s still summer and we are still feeling it. There really hasn’t been any break in heat or humidity and it is taking its toll. I am so ready for something different, rather than being entrenched in these sweaty, soupy days. Let’s see how the week went.

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.56 miles, walking
Good morning, rise and shine! We did have some cloud cover today, which made things tolerable, even though the humidity was still absolutely crushing.

I’m having incredible quiet days right now. It’s couch time with some sweet fur babies, working, and reading. I did catch up on the new season of Wednesday, watched the movie Drop (which stressed me out, because of all the phone notifications), a documentary of the Idaho college student murders (horrifying), and am now trying Only Murders In The Building.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.7 miles, running
The run was fine. Just fine. I really wish I had something inspirational to say about it, but it is what it is.

And then the rest of the day was just a quiet Monday. Those are sometimes the best Mondays. We’ve had pretty major thunderstorms every afternoon, and once those hit, I confess my motivation goes right out the window. Meh.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.02 miles, running + .46 miles, walking
I just really don’t know if I can perspire anymore. It feels like it’s a part of my personality now, and I hate every second of it. But I ran.

I tacked on a quick visit home and a dog walk. And then in the evening, I attended a splatter room with Yelp! It was so fun, and such a different experience! There was a lot of chaos – my fellow yelpers were way more into spraying paint all over each other (which was so fun), so I didn’t get to take a lot of pictures as I didn’t want my phone to get paint on it. But it’s a great concept and I love how my canvas came out!

Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.97 miles, walking
Really??? I couldn’t make it to six miles? I think someone wasn’t paying attention. Me. That someone was me. But I did get to take my new shoes for a spin.

This was a combo of my regular walk and a dog walk. My first time was 4.99. Seriously? That’s how out of the game my head is.
We were supposed to have dinner plans with friends, but one of them wasn’t feeling well, so we just postponed the whole thing. I was feeling extra tired, so I was ok with that.
Thursday
- Cardio: 5.43 miles, running
Friends, we are faking it til we make it SO HARD. I feel like if I can just keep pushing, I’ll get clear to the point where I am in love with running (don’t get me wrong, I love running, but it’s so hard right now). SO HARD.

Moving on.
I had some quick errands to do, and I did absolutely peek around for possible Halloween decorations. I need pumpkins in my life to bring me joy.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.21 miles, running
TGIF! I wish the run felt better, but it is what it is.

And it was our first Friday Night Lights of the season! We had an absolutely massive thunderstorm that delayed the game so I didn’t get to see the performance, but Mr PugRunner said they were having a lot of fun in the stands and their standstill performance of the first parts of their show sounded great.

Saturday
- Cardio: 4.02 miles, walking
Today was a marathon day. Of course, it started with a walk, which was a little sluggish because I was up most of the night with an upset stomach. Nothing major, but something just didn’t agree with me yesterday. Boo.

Then we were off to the real races. I finished up at one client’s house, packed my things and said goodbye to the animals. My next stop was to pick up Mr PugRunner and take him home, where I threw some things in the laundry, repacked an overnight bag, and then took myself to another client’s house. Once I got those dogs fed, it was off to celebrate J’s birthday with a special dinner!
Thoughts + Goals
Just in case I haven’t said it enough, I am ready for fall. So ready. I just don’t think I can handle sweating any more and I want to get in all my jeans and cozy sweaters. Oh, and let’s not forget my blankets!
This was a tough week with being away from home so much. I guess it’s just like traveling for work, with the option to dip home very occasionally. And that’s not the worst thing, but I am very much looking forward to my own bed on Sunday. AND I’ll be home for three weeks, which is even better!

Sounds like a tough week for you. I hope the upcoming week is better.
We’re actually having a taste of fall today with cool temps–high of 70F! It feels good, but summer isn’t over yet!

That sounds GLORIOUS!
You ARE traveling for work — just not very far!
LOL on your 4.97 mile run — I did a similar thing this week and was annoyed but not enough to start running again!
We’ve actually had some nice weather — will try to send some your way.
You’ll love when I got in the car at 3.95 miles, looked down and saw where I was, and left the car running in the parking lot so I could get that .05! I mean, come on!
I’ll take that weather with open arms!
I am glad you are having some better weather and some time to yourself too. So ready for fall but it will be a while! Have a great week ahead
It will be so long for fall to really come. I’m ready for soups!
I’m sorry about your week. I hope this week brings better days for you. I don’t usually care about what my mileage is when I stop and I often run or walk with many decimals. But being that close to 5 would definitely bug me!
Right? Just .01 more!
“I need pumpkins in my life to bring me joy.”- WE ARE SOUL SISTERS! Yes, I’m so over the soul-sucking heat and humidity. And, I’ve been in those phases where running just doesn’t feel good. Fake it till you make it is the way to go- one of these days, things will click and you’ll suddenly love it again.
Hope this week is a better one for you!
Oooh! You’re going to love to see the new pillow covers I ordered! Fall and Halloween are happening whether the thermometer says so or not!
Jenn, it’s not “just like” traveling for work, you “are” traveling for work. Hope the craziness settles down for you.
Here’s hoping you get some more fall-like weather soon!
Well, yes… except in some cases I do get to go home during the time I’m away. And I’m never more than 10 miles from my house. So… there’s that.
It was just a touch less humid today and I was so happy!
Sorry for the challenging week. Hoping things mellow out for you. It was 55F this morning (EEEK!). That may sound like heaven to you, but it is too cold for August, LOL. Our summer is SO short in Iowa…and it feels like it’s gone MIA today.
Noooooo. I would love 55!!!!! That’s how I feel about our fall and winter. Gone in a heartbeat.
a splatter room? How fun. I love how you do so many different things each week.
I do love fall decorations and food… just hate the decreasing daylight!!
It was really fun! I recommended it to A to take his girlfriend!
A splatter room is an interesting concept! I don’t think we have one here. That humid weather sounds very tough! Do you ever take care of cats, or do you only work with dogs? And are your clients repeat clients (maybe going away for work often) or has it been different people most jobs? I’m intrigued!
It’s pretty cool! We also have a rage room that I need to check out.
I do take care of cats. I have a total of 9 or 10 cat clients, a few of which are repeats. Right now, I’m at a point where most of my clients are repeats. I have a standing 2-3x a week walk with a puppy whose mom wants to put in some time at the office, but the dog needs activity during the day. And at this point, most of my clients are repeaters: they are traveling for work, going on some kind of family vacations or similar. At this point, I’m really only taking current clients or referrals from them because otherwise, I would never see my own house lol!
