When September Ends

September 27, 2025      9 Comments

We are close to the end of the month of September and while I don’t know if that’s a good thing, I am trying really hard to get into the swing of the fall season. It’s hard when the leaves don’t change color and the temperatures hover in the high 80s and 90s, but I’m taking the little dips and breezes when I can, leaning into soup season and hoping for the best.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 5.31 miles, walking

Since I was still pet sitting, it was harder to get out super early. I had to get everyone potted, fed, and watered to make sure they were good before I left the house. They are great critters, but with six of them, it takes a minute.

Once I was done with all the house chores, I headed to the couch with my book, my laptop, and a couple of snuggly dogs and cats. Heaven.

Monday

  • Cardio: 7 miles, running

Happy Monday! Another week! And it was the official first day of fall! Did it feel like it? Not really! But that’s ok! My plan was to stretch my intervals out a little: I’m using the Couch To 5K timer and then just repeating sessions to achieve the mileage I want. At the moment, I’m doing run 5 minutes, walk 3, and will keep with that for a bit.

It was the Fall Equinox as well, so I scooted home to make a delicious and cozy lasagna soup. This is my favorite soup of all time: I just love the ruffly mafaldine pasta and the dollop of ricotta on top. It’s so easy to make: you can check it out here.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 6.64 miles running + .55 miles, walking

Yay for going home day! But first, let’s run!

I love being with my clients, but I also love coming home. After walking my weekly regular, I was able to settle into my regular routine.

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 6.26 miles, walking

Even when it’s not super cold, I do love the sunrises and sunsets in fall. They are just so stunning. Today was designated as a recovery walking day, and I did my miles at home, plus added some for my dog walk.

In the evening, I met up with the book club. We read “The Seven Year Slip” by Ashley Poston, and our overall rating was 3.5 stars. It was cute and fun, and I enjoyed it!

Thursday

  • Cardio: 6.01 miles, running + .49 miles, walking

I hit the ground running, literally. Thursdays are for speed work, so I went in for one minute sprints, followed by one minute of recovery, for about 16 rotations. Yay.

And then I had to scramble to get going. After my last dog walk of the week, we had reservations through Yelp at a Selfie Showroom waaaay up on the north side of Jacksonville. A car fire didn’t help the situation. It was super cute and fun.

We were ravenous, so we grabbed dinner in Atlantic Beach, before going to the Grey Matter Distillery for their Halloween Pop Up. It’s a super cute bar, but we never go because it’s so far away. They do an immersive experience, with special themed cocktails, and I love their creativity.

Friday

  • Cardio: 6.6 miles, running

TGIF! It was hot and muggy and foggy and gross. I have nothing else to say.

I spent the rest of the day cooking, and cleaning, and working. We have a busy weekend ahead and I want to get a jump on it all.

Saturday

  • Cardio: 4.35 miles walking

I got in a quick walk before our road trip to Orlando!

A was taking his girlfriend to Halloween Horror Night, and we had plans to do other Halloween things. Ive been to HHN once, and that was quite enough for me.

Thoughts + Goals

So another week where the gym didn’t pan out. I just can’t find time to fit it in. Sometimes I’m tired and sometimes I’m overscheduled, and that’s the thing that falls off. What can you do?

In the meantime, I’ve really started working on my own organization. I’ve revived my recipes and Pinterest page and am really looking to being more strategic with blogging and my social media. It gives me so much joy to bring everything together.

Oh, A got his charter org rep sign off for his Eagle project AND earned 1st chair for wind ensemble. So happy on both counts.

Still doesn’t feel like Fall. So no soups yet.

You certainly are active even with your pet sitting job.

It is hard to fit the gym in when it’s nice out.

No fall here either! We are still in the 80/‘s most days with lots of humidity. I also love lasagna soup and can’t wait for cooler temps to enjoy it as well. Wow you 6 dogs to pet sit at once! That is impressive!

Sounds like you had a really solid week! 6 pets is a lot to care for at once!

Love the Halloween themed cocktail glasses.

Ooh, lasagna soup! That’s a great idea- making an actual pan of lasagna is a little too much most of the time.
You’re really leaning into the Halloween fun! I need to get my decorations out and enjoy spooky season- it goes by way too fast.
i have a new appreciation for how far you walk- I did a 3 mile walk this week and it felt LONG. And, my shins were killing me the next day. I’m thinking I need to incorporate more walking into my routine.
Congrats to A on 1st chair! That’s awesome.

You had such an active week! I’m jealous of all your runs. I wish we would have sleep here. It’s been pretty warm and my husband is pretty serious about not having soup until it gets cooler. But that lasagna soup looks great and I am adding it to my list of soups to try this fall.

As much as I love my dear Max and Lola (granddoggy), any more than those two would be overwhelming to me, LOL. Great job squeezing in all our activities!

I love lasagne soup! I am a big fan of soups, primarily anything I can throw in the crockpot to prepare and also an easy freezer recipe. I’ll have to try your recipe, it sounds delish! You ran a lot of miles this week. Did I miss something? Are you training for a half?
Congrats to A on those accomplishments!

It sounds like you had a busy, but fun week! Congrats to your son on both of his accomplishments.

If it makes you feel any better, our first day of fall was anything but. 🙁

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Where did you run or race this weekend?

So good to stretch the legs today. I was super sore after a @runsmartofficial cross training session last night, and needed to just get out there and let the fresh air work its magic.

What are you up to today? I really need to take a moment with my calendar and get some plans locked into place.

I got to sleep in AND take advantage of some cooler temps. It really didn’t warm up until my last mile and that was just fine.

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

Also. We have somehow acquired a pecan tree? Any tips on the growth and care of this would be greatly appreciated!

Just a short walk to start the day and work out some stiffness. Some days, my ankle just doesn’t want to cooperate 🫤

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
