This past week, we celebrated 19 years of marriage. It’s definitely a tricky time of year, and we opted to do a few small things to honor the day. We’ll do something a little bigger for twenty years. Thiw

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.33 miles, walking
I woke up with my client and took advantge of some of the nearby wooded trails.

The day was pretty chill, with my only big venture out to have lunch with the family, including A’s girlfriend. She was back to school the next morning so we wanted to send her off, fed and with love.
Monday
- Cardio: 2.34 miles, running
While I was out on my run, A texted to say he wasn’t feeling well. Poor kiddo had a fever, and the doctor diagnosed him with the flu. Yuck. Spoiler alert: it kept him down through Thursday! He definitely needed the rest and forced downtime, but we could have done without the illness. It was a great excuse to deep clean the house, though.
So I had to cut my miles short to get home to navigate the installation of a UV filter in our new air conditioning unit and the rehanging of our broken gate, while Mr PugRunner dealt with urgent care. It wasn’t ideal, but such is life.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 6.29 miles, running
Happy 19th anniversary to us! I wasn’t home, but we each spent the morning doing our own workouts.

And then we met for lunch at an outdoor fish camp.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 3.69 miles, walking
Another day, another wooded walk. I took myself out and then walked one of my regulars. It was a little warmer today, which was so rude.

Thursday
- Cardio: 6.15 miles, running
These sunrise runs are really doing it for me. Seriously. I just love them so much.

Then Mr PugRunner and I were off for our anniversary outing. We got coffee and donuts, and then headed to the Capybara Cafe, for our Capybara and Friends encounter. After feeding and loving on three capys, we got to see a gorgeous skunk, the coolest armadillo ever, and a red-ruffed lemur!

Afterwards, we had lunch at a new place, and then we went shopping for some Christmas decorations and things for the house. Errands are always the perfect date.

Friday
- Cardio: 6.04 miles, running + walking
I got to start my run under this gorgeous full moon, and then things settled into walking when I met up with J. Today, I found myself a little tired, and I didn’t sleep well the night before, so I was hoping for a kind of quiet day.

I had a review meeting with an upcoming client and then ran some errands. I even got to go through and thin out Halloween decorations and some other things in the house.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.55 miles, walking
Would you believe that this is the first Saturday in forever that I didn’t have anything really planned or scheduled? It’s kind of a wonderful feeling.

I worked, did a ton of laundry, gave the pugs a bath, and tried to do a little organizing. In the evening, we had our very last performance on our field and a meeting for our upcoming trip to Grand Nats.
Thoughts + Goals
November is going to be over in the blink of an eye. I’m a little stressed about the amount of time I’m away from home, but it’s all going to be ok.
It was a rough week, with A being so sick, and some seriously reduced mileage, but we did our best and make it work.
I am really loving the weather and I’m so glad to see that running feels easier and my pace is quite a bit faster. Amazing what fall and winter can do to help.
I’m gearing up for at least two more races, one potentially next weekend and one on Thanksgiving, and one the first weekend of December, and then we’ll go from there. I don’t know if I’ll hit for 12 for the year, but that’s ok.

Ugh, the flu already? We haven’t been seeing much of that yet, just some random virus that’s been leaving everyone with a bad cough. I hope A feels better soon!
Happy anniversary! Here’s to many more!
Strep and that upper respiratory infection has been huge around here. I was really expecting it to be strep… the flu was a surprise. He’s definitely much improved and we all stayed well, so that’s a plus.
A capybara cafe sounds incredible!! I can’t even imagine- how amazing. And happy anniversary!! Sorry about the sickness – my daughter just got over a cough/cold but i know we’re only starting the season here.
They are the sweetest things!
The band kids are soooo worn down with practice and shows. The director had to put out communication to keep kids with symptoms home because several bugs were running rampant through the kids.
Hope you all stay well!
Happy anniversary to you both! Glad you got to carve out some time to celebrate alone. This time of the year is pretty insane always! Good but busy!
Thank you!
Oh, poor A! The flu is miserable. And it does throw everything off, having a sick kid. Happy Anniversary- it sounds like you guys had a fun celebration (shopping for Christmas stuff would definitely be my way to celebrate!)
Our weather got hot again (UGH) but we cool down TOMORROW! I’m thinking it will be very chilly up where you are- perfect running weather. I can’t wait.
It was 80 something yesterday! Stop that!
He was in bad shape for about a day and a half and then he got his appetite back and rallied. He has a lot of catching up at school to do, but I guess we just need to go with it.
I’m sorry to hear that A was so sick. No illnesses so far this flu season in our house, knock on wood!
Happy belated anniversary to you and your hubby! Sounds like you planned a nice day together despite starting it off separately due to work.
Fortunately, it wasn’t too bad. He’s a little tired, but after Grand Nats, he’ll have one week of school, and then a week off. He will be able to really recuperate then.
we did have a good day!
Congrats on 19 years! Looks like you had a great day of celebration 😉
We had fun!
Sorry A had such a rough week with the flu. Yuck! That must have put a dent in his busy schedule.
Happy anniversary and many more! You had a fun day celebrating. What a cool animal encounter!
So…. have you ever had a drink with a claw hanging out of it before? Was it good? Is it a bloody mary? I don’t drink those but I have seen some weird toppings for them!
Hahaha! that was not my drink! It had a crab claw, shrimp, an oyster, and then olives, celery and maybe a green bean? I think it’s hilarious how much they can stuff in one cocktail.
Yeah, it definitely slowed him down. Especially being the week before Grand Nats and all the last rehearsals. what can you do, though/
I got my flu shot so I hope I’m spared.
What fun idea for your anniversary.
I hope so, too. It’s making the rounds here!
Happy Anniversary! And I hope A is feeling better asap!
Thank you! He’s made a full recovery!
