Y’all, this week TRIED me. Every day was something new, and I am rolling into this weekend with high hopes for a break. We had lots on the schedule, but a lot that was in flux, too. I’m trying to roll with all of it, but your girl needs a minute to catch her breath.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.16 miles, walking
We woke up to another pretty gloomy and drizzly day. I managed to get out for a nice walk before the rain started coming down.

In the afternoon, my mom joined me for an ornament making class. We had the best time creating gorgeous ornaments for our respective trees, and then we met the guys for dinner. We are definitely going to take more classes like this.

Monday
- Cardio: 6.63 miles, running
The weather was great for a nice run.

And then we headed off to the bank to deal with the transfer of some documents and accounts. This is the least fun part of adulting. Seriously.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.62 miles, running + 4.19 miles, walking
Did I almost get hit by a car today? Sure did! The driver was NOT paying attention, and almost blew through a stop sign while I was in the pedestrian walkway. She realized her error, rolled down her window and apologized profusely. I promised not to blast her on the neighborhood facebook page, but I did give her a lecture, which she, to her credit, accepted. I hope she is safer.

After my run, I met a friend for a walk and coffee. It aws a lot of miles and I loved it.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.76 miles, walking
I really do love walking days. It’s a great way to break up the week.

I had one dog walk, and then I met my parents back at my house for a big day of baking. We thought it might be a fun way to slog through all the cookies! We managed a ton of them! I have three other varieties not pictures. I’m planning to box them up for gifts.

Thursday
- Cardio: 4.19 miles, running + .44 miles, walking
Oh, this morning started horribly. First, I forgot to unpause my watch and lost a good chunk of miles. Then, the last minute client I accepted sprung on me that she had cats in addition to the dog I was watching, which meant we had to rebook the whole job (I love cats, but it’s so important that everyone is aware how many animals will be on the premises). I was so distracted on my run, but we got it all sorted. I also forgot to start my watch and lost a chunk of miles. Boo.

After my first drop in, I headed in to the dermatologist because of the thing on my ear. The NP confirmed my suspicions that it was most likely squamous cell carcinoma, and before I even knew what was happening, they numbed me, took a sample, stitched me up, and booked a followup. They told me that they’ll most likely be referring me to a surgeon to have it completely removed, and I’m kind of dealing with the possibility of losing a chunk of my ear.
On the plus side, my doggy client was absolute perfection. I canceled our dinner reservations, put on comfy clothes, and took to the couch for the rest of the night.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.27 miles, walking
I’m not supposed to get my heart rate up for a few days, so I figured a nice walk was a fair compromise.

I met a friend for lunch, and in the evening, we went to A’s last winter showcase. It was a loooong show (almost 3 hours). All the performers were incredible and I was so proud (even though I was so sad that this will be his last winter showcase). On the plus side, we won the Whataburger prize box at the raffle! It includes a really great stainless water cup, socks, sunnies, golf balls, an LED burger sign and a year of free burgers! Whoo hoo!

Saturday
- Cardio: 3.63 miles, walking
Another walking day. Neat. At least the pugs were fun companions.
I took some much needed down time to do a little work and nap. The cold and dreary weather has made it nearly impossible to feel any level of motivation, and honestly, I could use the down time.
That night, we went out on a catamaran for the Nights of Lights. With all the crowds and traffic, it’s really the best way to see everything.
Thoughts + Goals
I am tired, and behind, and maybe a little unwell. I want the magic and I want a nap.
This weekend, I commit to finishing the tree and getting back some of the holiday spirit. Period.

Whew, what a whirlwind of a week! Sorry to hear about the ear lesion–hopefully, they got it all off and no more removal needed. Congrats on winning the burger box! And holiday light viewing on a catamaran sounds pretty sweet to me!
It was a great night! We drank a little too much, but I think we all needed to unwind.
I hope you can catch up this weekend so you won’t be so stressed and can enjoy the holidays going forward. Your ornaments and cookies all turned out great!
I hope you don’t have to lose any of your ear, Jenn, it’s amazing what surgeons can do these days. I’m send good wishes that your results come back negative, but if they’re positive that your surgeon is as amazing as mine was. I had a squamous cell removed from my upper lip line and a melanoma from my left cheek and you can hardly tell. Both scars have faded beautifully over time.
Forgetting to start/stop my Garmin is a real problem for me, too.
The good news is that I have a mole that i’ve had since birth on the lobe of my ear (the current biopsy was on the top). The mole has maybe grown a little, but it’s mostly the same, but I asked them to check it just in case. The doctor assured me it was just a mole, so at least I won’t lost a big chunk of my ear lobe! Yay! At this point, there’s nothing to be done but go through it, so whatever happens happens. hopefully it’s not that bad.
It is super scary to have things like that biopsies and taken off. I’ve gone through this a few times myself. It is amazing the techniques they have to correct these things now so hopefully your situation will end up not being as bad as you think. Fingers crossed for you.
Looks like a fun time with your mom making ornaments!
I hope it’s ok. The current punch doesn’t look great but I’m excited to get piercings.
What a week indeed! I hope the follow-up on your ear goes well. That’s a lot to have hanging this time of year.
Love your ornaments and cookies! I missed my bake-a-thon so I am on my own this year.
Thought of you when I was in FL, but I was too far south to reach out.
It’s a very long state, and no one ever comes up here. It’s practically Georgia. But I hope you had fun!
Good luck with your ear follow up – hope everything is ok! What a busy week- congrats on the prize win! It’s a crazy time of year for sure, but hopefully fun!
I really do thrive on the busyness, but I also want to relax and enjoy. I can’t ever be happy lol!
What, whataprize! haha, but seriously, that sounds like a great win. Those ornaments you made are very pretty! And what a great way to spend time together with your mom.
I hope all goes well with the ear follow up. I was at my dermatologist this past week too for an annual skin check.
I have great faith that the spirit of Christmas will find you this week, and I hope some relaxing and Merry times are in your near future! 🙂
I really hope you’re right. I’m trying to stay positive about all the things!
OMG Jenn, I’m so sorry about your ear! That must be so stressful! And then the almost being hit by a car too. I can see how this week was overwhelming.
Walking sure is relaxing and good for the soul. I hope you’ll get some quiet times over Christmas!
It’s been a week lol! It will all be ok, right? RIGHT?
On to the Christmas magic!
The ear thing sounds so scary! I hope all goes well with your follow-up. The ornaments look beautiful!
