Here we go! The last few days of the year. 2025 was not my favorite year (it seems like we are having a string of these, lately, and I’d like the trend to stop any day now). What are we doing on the 31st? Brace yourselves… it’s going to be wild!

Go For A Run
Obviously, the first thing I’m doing is going for a run. There is one NYE race in the area, but it’s in the middle of the afternoon and I’m not interested in driving all the way to downtown Jacksonville before a big party night. Some of the smaller race companies used to do New Year’s races in other parts of the area, but this is the hand we are dealt, so I will just run-celebrate on my own!
Treat Ourselves To Take Out
You know I love to cook and create a themed event, but A suggested we get food from a local restaurant, and boy do I love that kid. We will be coming off a trip with a 7 hour return drive, and the last thing I really want to do is clean, shop, cook, and make things gorgeous. Appetizers from a local place, supplemented with homemade nachos (because they won’t hold up if we order them in) will be perfect.

Watch The Miami Hurricanes
So, the Miami Hurricanes defeated Texas A&M in the first NCAA playoff game, and will move on to the Cotton Bowl vs Ohio State. Mr PugRunner is absolutely going to camp out for this game (we were honestly looking to see if it would be feasible to send him to Texas) , but this will be how our night is spent. I’ll probably watch some of it, but we will see how long I make it.

Pillows + Eyelids
Midnight is not for me. I will do my best (I always do), but if I don’t make it, I have no problem heading off to bed. January 1 is Mr PugRunner’s birthday, so I like to be up and ready to make his day special. Of course, his enthusiasm level will probably depend on the results of the game, but we will take it as it comes!

How are you ringing in 2026?

I’m definitely going for a run on NYD! Other than that, nothing exciting. I have no resolutions, no intentions…just want to stay healthy and keep calm through 2026!
I think that’s a popular goal. I want the same. <3
Dinner out on NYE and then an informal fun race at noon on NYD.
Ihave some goals… nothing lofty… just staying active and healthy… that means lots of runs, races, workouts and meet-ups with fam and friends..
Those are great goals! I support them!
I hope you had a great night and enjoy your day tomorrow!
Oh, that’s kind of funny- we’re having similar New Year’s Eves! I’ll also start with a run, plan to get takeout and watch the Cotton Bowl. I would love to be in bed before midnight, but around here everyone sets off fireworks (sigh) so it’s not really feasible. Plus my daughter may need a ride home (ugh) so we’ll see. Anyway- your day sounds fun! I’m rooting for Miami (of course!!!)
We ate our snacks. I’m in soft pants. I’ve got the pugs. And Mr PugRunner is all screaming at the TV.
The fireworks have been going off since 3PM (whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) and I just want to go to bed.
A and his girlfriend are here, and I’m just glad that we are all under one roof. Go Canes!
Well, I’m wrapping up 2025 with a big mistake – I accidentally linked up to Runner’s Roundup and just now realized what I’d done, so I deleted my post from that and added it here. LOL
Your New Year’s Eve sounds as exciting as ours and I’m just fine with that! We’re also watching the OSU vs Miami game. Miami just had a great pick six!
Haha!
I can barely watch. Mr PugRunner is out of his mind, and I just have flashback from the 2003 game! I am hopeful the Canes give him a great birthday gift!
