When the running is done, we move to the recovery. Recovery is an important (and often neglected) part of a runner’s training routine. It can be hard to make the time to properly take care of our muscles, joints, and well being after we log our miles, but it’s the wise thing to do.

Crazy Compression Socks
Compression socks are a great recovery aid, helping with circulation to avoid swelling, soreness, fatigue, blood clots, and even varicose veins, in the lower extremities. You can wear them during your run or workout, or you can wear them afterwards, while stretching or going about your daily life. Learn more about compression in my review and order some of your own here (save with code RUNSWITHPUGS).
Yoga Class
I don’t practice often enough, but yoga is such a great recovery aid. I am all about the active recovery, and yoga checks every single box for me. Yoga is wonderful for everyone, and is manageable for people of every fitness level. Not only is it great for recovery, but it also keeps you limber and flexible. I give extra points for practicing near farm animals. It just brings a little extra oomph to the recovery.
Rest
Rest is the easiest and most accessible recovery aid. It’s also one of the most important ones out there. When you take a break, you really give your body a chance to heal itself. Ultimately, this leads to getting stronger and helps avoid injury, all desirable outcomes. Like yoga, I don’t do this nearly often enough, but I’m trying.

The massage gun is a fantastic tool for recovery. I am committed to daily stretch and or foam rolling as well. Helps me tremendously

That’s great that you do that. I just can’t manage to be consistent.
