At the end of the race, it’s always good to have songs to get you to the finish line. In that final distance, there’s something to be said about the power and hype of a good song. Here are the five songs I love to have queued up for the end of a race.
Let’s Go (feat Twista + Lil Jon) – Trick Daddy
This song goes HARD. It has great downbeats and drops, and all the motivation you need to dig deep and finish that race. I confess that I only use the clean version of this one – I can’t sing along with the explicit track, and sometimes I do have to sing out loud to get myself moving.
Whatever It Takes – Imagine Dragons
I mean. It’s in the title. You’re bearing down on the finish line and you’ll do … “Whatever it takes ‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins”. On top of that, Imagine Dragons songs are perfectly singable and I love that. This is absolutely on the playlist.
Fight Song – Rachel Platten
Talk about a finish line banger. Fight Song is absolutely perfect for that last half to quarter mile. There’s a lift to the melody that always puts a spring in my step, and I’m always about women encouraging women, so this is just right.
Raise Your Glass – Pink
As a Pink-lover and an unapologetic underdog, Raise Your Glass gets me moving. And who doesn’t want to get through that finish line to raise a glass to a race well run? I think this captures the fun side of running and I love that so much.
The Edge Of Glory – Lady Gaga
Finishing a race really does bring the glory, and this is the perfect reminder. Lady Gaga’s voice is so powerful, and whenever I listen to anything she sings (but especially this one), there’s nothing I can’t do. This might be one of my favorites for getting to the end of any race!
What are your favorite finish line songs? Do we share any?
