We’ve got the first day of fall in just one week! And I have never been more ready for anything in my life! I fully recognize that just because it will officially be fall doesn’t mean the weather will cool down or the humidity will dissipate, but a girl can dream! In the meantime… Here’s the rundown of the past week.
Sunday
- Cardio: 3.01 miles, walking
Sunday was just a chill day. I went out for quick walk,
And then I did some time at the marching band car wash fundraiser. To be honest, I was just super tired and very much looking forward to getting home to chill out.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.74 miles, running
Oh, yeah! Running is very much back! Am I dodging the rain? Sure am. But it feels good to be running for real again. I also got my nails done, and I am loving this spooky black matte manicure with shiny drips.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.86 miles, running
It feels like my miles are down, but I am glad that they are running more than walking miles. I met up for J for this run, and it was all good things. I am also loving my new coffee cup!
Tuesday was very much devoted to working. I got home, showered, sat down at the computer and dug IN. It feels great to get things done, but I was absolutely fried when I shut it down at 9 that night.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.61 miles, running
#NeverForget. I ran my miles in honor of the 23rd anniversary of September 11. It’s always a somber day.
Thursday
- Cardio: 5.24 miles, running
J wasn’t feeling well so Thursday was on my own. The nasty weather meant that some of our plans got messed up, which was annoying. I loathe last minute changes.
I DID get to go try some new Greek donuts in Jax Beach, even though it was pouring rain. And I did find this outside my front door. Super cool and about six feet long. I don’t get it: some people find kittens and puppies and baby raccoons. I find snake skins.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.95 miles, running
J was still sick, so it was all me again. Do you see that sky? That’s the sun! It’s been a while!
The weather did not last but that was ok. We had our Beetlejuice Pub Crawl and I was so excited. We grabbed dinner before our 5PM meet up time, and then we followed Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz to four different bars in Saint Augustine for cocktails, trivia, and games! I even won a ring pop for answering a trivia question correctly!
Mr PugRunner stayed out to see a concert with his buddy and I went home after to be able to pickup A from band (don’t worry – I only had a few sips of each cocktail to try it – safety first!).
Saturday
- Cardio: 5 miles, walking
It was a late night which meant I didn’t wake up early. And I also had some awful GI distress, so my walk was not great. But it got done, and that’s what counts. Mr PugRunner went out to grill for the scouts at their campout and I stayed home to bake sourdough and catch up with things.
Thoughts + Goals
We have a short week coming up. Schools are closed on Friday, which is nice. I have a 5K scheduled for next Sunday, and we also signed up for a Hard Cider 5K at a beautiful farm in December. I have my October race in place and now I need to figure out where I’m running in November.
No gym this week. I just didn’t have time. While it’s nothing worth mentioning here, we’ve had a lot happening in our world that just needs sorting out. Everything is fine, but some seasons are a little more complicated than others. This is one of those.

It still feels like summer in Chicago, with temperatures in the upper 80s! It’s supposed to last all week, which I’m excited about bc we’re going up to the lake next weekend!
I hope you’re feeling better!

I hope the lake is amazing!

Your running seems to be going so well. Even when I’m healthy I only manage 3 run walk miles during the work week.
I got my nails done too but the usual French. It does feel great though.
Hope your weather continues to make your runs easier.
We had perfect weather when I was unable to run. Now it’s warm again. Well not Florida hot.

I am all about going further. It’s slow, but it’s going!
The rain has been a huge deterrent and I hate that. But the last two mornings have been maybe slightly “coolish”?

We hit 80s again this week so it very much feels like summer and I love it! Though I’m not working out much outside bc of my broken toe right now. Your sourdoughs look so good! Glad the newish starter is doing its job.
runswithpugs says
I hope your toe feels better!
The bread worked! I have to seal off another “insurance” starter just in case!
Going to bake a few more loaves and some more crackers this week!

Our weather is holding on to a taste of summer, but it’s a bit cooler at night.
Good luck on your race this weekend!

I’m excited for it! It feels like it’s been a while!

I LOVE your nails, and all the hints of fall/Halloween in your photos. We Floridians have to do our own fall, since the weather won’t cooperate. We’re still very hot and steamy here, with LOTS of rain. Sigh.
Sounds like you had a great week- this is definitely a busy time! Good luck on the 5k this weekend- and the December 5k sounds amazing (hard cider? farm? Cool!)

Wow you are full on Halloween already! Fun! I am also ready for fall temps

As you know, summer is my favorite season. It’s always late getting here and seems to be leave much too soon. I was really happy to have summer temps last week, even if that involved the requisite humidity, LOL.

My favorite season is whatever season we happen to be in at the time, with the exception of winter – I only love it when it’s snowing. I love spring for the blooms and anticipation of warmer weather, I love fall because of the colorful leaves and crisp air, and I love summer because of the smell of fresh cut grass, fun barbecues, and not having to think about what to wear when I go out for a walk or bike ride.

Your nails look so good!!! I’m bummed – I was going to do a Berlin themed nail polish for my race, but my nails are damaged and I pretty much just have to cut them all short. Not sure anything is going to look good. For some reason my nails get wrecked from wearing nail polish and I shouldn’t have done it before the race so they still had a chance of being long. Whomp whomp!

You definitely got some fall weather there with the rain… but it’s still warm too. That’s a fun combo – heat and humidity 😉
I love that you’re baking with sourdough. I do too, almost weekly! Do you have a favorite recipe?
