Brace yourselves, for this may comes as a shock.
I’m in love with pugs.
I know, I know. There’s no way you could have guessed it.
We are quite proudly owned by a grumble of three.
Of the three, two are rescues (Bentley was unofficially rescued from a neglectful home and Delilah was an official rescue through a local organization). While I really miss having puppies (yes, I’m one of those weirdos who melts at the smell of puppy ears and doesn’t care if I’m being woken up at all hours of the night to deal with potty outings), I am so glad to have provided a loving home and good life to these three.
Quite frankly, I would adopt about 20 more if Mr PugRunner was on board.
Rescuing has its challenges. Bentley is tricky – he really needs a strong alpha to keep him in line, but we’ve learned how to work with him to keep him from acting out. Delilah is pretty aloof and sulks daily (mostly because she thinks we’re not feeding her enough), but she has settled in and gets along with everyone here.
In the meantime, I do what I can to support the rescues and the people who volunteer their time to save as many pugs as they can.
For the past three years, I have registered for the Pug Run with Virtual Charity Runs. I loved the 10K distance, the adorable bling and the fact that proceeds went to the Northern Illinois Pug Rescue and Adoption, a rescue near and dear to the heart of Virtual Charity Runs Founder, Shannyn Allan.
This year, the bar has been raised. Not only has the Pug Run incorporated some new theming, but proceeds will be split between NIPRA and Pug Hearts of Houston.
Obviously, I hopped right on the registration train. Are your ready for Game of Bones: House Puggister – Hear Me Snore?
Does it get any more adorable?
Registration is open until October 11! Choose from 1 Mile, 5K or 10K distances, and receive a downloadable bib, as well as a gorgeous custom medal, plus the joy of knowing you’ve helped some sweet pugs in need.
Who’s ready to take on the Game of Bones?
