5 races i plan to run this fall

July 30, 2021      8 Comments

Well, things are back to being uncertain for racing and public events, which fills me with all kinds of unpleasant anxiety. My current operating agenda is to make plans, but also to be flexible, so here is how I hope and plan to fill my race calendar.

2021 Tunnel To Towers 5K – September 11

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the horrific 9/11 attacks, and Mr PugRunner asked if I would join him for this event. It’s a wonderful cause and I am grateful to help him support this.

Dreams Come True 5K – September 28

I’m not 100% sure I will be able to run this race, but I do plan to have some hand in it, whether I’m a participant or a volunteer. This 5K benefits granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, and promises to be a beautiful and inspiring event.

Pink Up The Pace 5k – October 2

Pink Up The Pace is our local breast cancer fundraising run. Proceeds from this event go directly to early prevention and detection services. It’s a wonderful group, doing so much good in the St. Augustine area. I am very hopeful to be there.

GOTRNEFL Noodle Run – October 2

Yes, you read that correctly: two races on the same day. Pink Up the Pace is a morning 5K, and this inaugural Noodle Run is an evening 5k/10k, to benefit Girls on the Run of Northeast Florida. It is brought to run by Noodles & Company, and will feature a post-race noodle tasting, so…. Yes. I’m up for this new event.

BDR Safety Harbor Triple Challenge – October 16 + 17

I know. This is crazy. What kind of person would take on a 5K, 10K AND Half Marathon in two days? I’m sure it will be tons of fun, especially since this race is totally new to me, as well. Best Damn Race always put on one heck of a good time, so I’m ready to be a part of it! Want to join? Save 10% off any BDR distance in any BDR city with code RUNSWITHPUGS

I had 2 races on the calendar for the fall; I’ve reached out to both RDs to request deferrals. I’ve gotten one for next year so far. But with COVID on the rise, will these things even take place? What a mess. I’m feeling more anxious too.

Many good causes there! I’ve never done the weekend challenge sort of thing, so good luck with that!

    Running for noodles sounds delish.

You’ve got a nice lineup! I think you are so right about making plans but staying flexible – the COVID numbers are alarming…again…sigh.

    That’s a great line-up. I hope they all happen.

20 years since the 9/11 attacks and I still remember the day as if it was yesterday. 🙁

Wow, you have some fun races lined up, and some amazing causes as well. I can’t wait to hear all about them, especially the BDR triple!!! Yes, it’s a little discouraging to feel like we’re going backwards with Covid- things seemed so hopeful for a while there. Fingers crossed that all events go as planned!

You have such a fun lineup of races for the Fall. I hope that in-person races will still be able to happen. Hopefully this new delta variant can get under control.

Had to switch things up this week, but that wasn’t an excuse to skip the beach! Hot and beautiful morning for sure. It was a little more crowded than on Mondays, but that’s ok.

Some miles on the sand and then some on the bridge. Time to get some elevation back in my life.

How often do you log miles on hills?

Trying to keep a positive running mindset but yuck! We adjusted by slowing down, taking breaks as needed and being as dramatic as possible.

Do you get super dramatic about the extreme heat (or cold)?
