And just like that, it’s Halloween week! Can you believe it? I’m so excited – Halloween really kicks off the holiday season, and this is the time where I really feel energized. I love it.
Sunday – 2.11 miles, walking
As you already know, Meghan and I dipped out of the Best Damn Race half marathon, duet to a slew of reasons. I didn’t mind at all, but I did need to walk before another four hour car ride. She and her pupper joined in the fun, and we stopped for Starbucks and wall mural photos along the way.
We loaded up the car, ate breakfast, and drove back to her place (and my vehicle). Before I left, we splurged on some Kelly’s ice cream. It’s a must-have when visiting.
Friends, I have never been so ready to roll into my own driveway. My allergies were painful and out of control, and I just wanted to sleep.
Monday – 3.5 miles, walking + shoulder workout
Usually, it’s my custom to visit the beach on Mondays, but I was exhausted, so I “slept in” and stayed in tech neighborhood.
A had the day off from school (a teacher workday), and gloriously spent most the day outside fishing. While I miss seeing him, I love that he spends so much time communing with nature.
Tuesday – 5.00 miles, running
I felt pretty good about this run. The water has been decentt,t and I appreciate the cooler temperatures.
An hour at the farm led to anther flareup of allergies. Ugh. I came home and allowed myself to be quite useless. we also had a major internet outage, so blogging ground to a halt.
While A was at Scouts, I had a virtual cupcake decorating class through Yelp and a local company called Breakable Hearts. It was a great class, but my frosting was a little soft (yay for Florida humidity), so I don’t have any photos of the finished product.
Wednesday – 3.88 miles, walking + back workout
Happy Wednesday. A week ago, we were prepping to see Hamilton. This week, was just regular life.
I walked.
Then I did a back workout.
Mr PugRunner had a board meeting that night, and I just didn’t have the energy to take A to his (late) karate class. I think we were all grateful for a night off.
Thursday – 45 miles, running + .33 miles, walking
We were blessed with a beautiful sunrise. It made the run so much better, but I also wasn’t feeling well (let’s call it lady issues). I kind of thought I was done with everything, but it looks like that was a cruel joke, so it’s back to a regular (miserable) cycle.
The two J’s and I enjoyed a delayed breakfast club, and then I spent the rest of the day picking up things from stores. I got new running shoes, and this precious costume for Miss Luna. She…. doesn’t love it, but she will wear it.
Mr PugRunner surprised us with lots and lots of tacos. If you haven’t seen the Elise Myers video about her worst date, check it out here. I showed it to my husband the night before, and it made an impression. He showed up at dinner time, bearing boxes and boxes of Taco Bell, and declaring “WE’RE GONNA FEAST!” I was crying laughing. And yes. We chowed down on those delicious tacos!
Friday – 4.65 miles, walking
TGIF!
I took a nice walk in the morning sun.
And then I just sort of puttered for the rest of the day. A had a camping trip this weekend, so we got him packed up and out the door, and then we watched Dear Evan Hansen as a rental on TV. I loved it and am so excited to be seeing the show in January.
Saturday – 7 miles, running + .36 miles, walking
This was a lonely, not so great run. I was tired and on a bit of a time crunch, so I just had to get it done.
We had lunch plans at the Riverside Arts Market. It’s a beautiful open air market under one of the major overpasses, overlooking the river. They have such great stuff, and we bough produce, crafts, and some other foods.
When we gt home, I took a nap. That evening, we had the Light Up The Night Gala to benefit houseless and at-risk youth through our local St. Francis House. Mr PugRunner was a sponsor for the event, which made it even more special. We were so excited, except I just tarted hating everything I had too wear, and ended up needing to change outfits last minute.
An even bigger surprise? Mr PugRunner scored this ride for us! We were able to go and have a good time and not worry about designated drivers pro anything like that!
It was a fabulous night, even with the COVID precautions in place and limited attendance.
We threw axes, took a hot air balloon ride, and generally enjoyed the heck out of ourselves.
Goal-getting
Other than the allergies and cycle “problems”, it was a good week. I didn’t push things too hard, and treated myself kindly, where I could.
I had two days of strength training this week, and I am starting to enjoy this new regimen. I think it will pay off.
This week, I have to finish my Halloween costume, and start working on stock for the upcoming vendor fair. I don’t know how i decided that was a good idea. A has another campout (he has three in a row, actually!), so we will have another adults weekend. I get more time with Taco, and we will also be attending a social media expo later in the week. Exciting stuff!
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Have you ever attended a social media expo?
Are you ready for Halloween and the holiday season?

Busy week! Not much for Halloween happening here; no costume parties, but several of us usually dress up at work.

Sorry about your allergies and your half marathon. You have a great attitude. I know there will be a half in your future.
Lots of decorations on my runs. I bought my candy. I was going to volunteer and dress up for a Sunday race. Now I may do my long run and come home and give out candy.
Can’t wait to see your costume.
And you rock the dress up. I am jelly.

Okay. Luna’s Halloween costume. The rainbow, the fluffy clouds, combined with the look on her face… it is HILARIOUS!!!
I agree, this time of year is the best. I love the holidays, and after suffering through the Florida summer, we are about to be rewarded with the best weather ever.
Hope your allergies ease up and you have a great week!

I’ve had that happen to me too often – evening planned and then I suddenly hate everything in my closet! But you looked amazing with what you chose in the end and glad you had lots of fun and had a great ride too!

Luna’s outfit, eeee! And sorry about the allergies. I’ve got my usual “everyone’s have stopped but hey I’m allergic to fern spores” thing so I can certainly sympathise.

Seriously it’s been FOREVER since I dressed up for anything. All my poor lonely shoes & boots. My hiking shoes get outings, though, LOL! You looked great & sounds like a really fun evening.
I once had no periods for a year. Then I had one. Right before a race, of course! It happens.
Still overall sounds like a fun week.

Another busy and fun social week for you. Sadly, since my kids are off out of the house, we don’t have Halloween festivities anymore. It used to be my favorite! Oh well. Have a fun time with your son this week. Strength training definitely pays off!
Kim G says
Luna’s costume is just too cute! I think she will learn to love it, lol.
Such a busy but fun week for you! I’m looking forward to getting trick of treaters on Sunday. Last year we barely got any, which made sense, but this year I’m hoping we see 40-50 kids. I just love handing out candy to all the cute kiddies!

Looks like a fun week! And, oh my gosh how cute is Luna’s costume!?! Our street is hosting a block party for the kids on Halloween afternoon, but we’re going to miss it since it’s Parents Weekend and we’re off to see our college boy 🙂 Looking forward to seeing what you choose for your costume.

That’s so funny about the tacos! I have to tell you, I’ve been CRAVING Taco Bell for months now, but the closest one is like 30 minutes away. I haven’t wanted it that badly yet. Lol!
For a last minute outfit, you looked gorgeous at the fundraiser! I love that dress you decided to wear!
Wendy says
I’m sorry that you had an off week. Allergies are tough to deal with. Hoping this week is off to a better start.
Cocoa won’t ever let us dress her up, so at least Luna is wearing the costume, lol
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Sounds like a fun night out with hubby and friends! I never get to dress up like that. Throwing axes sounds like a lot of fun! Did you hit the target? Just wondering how hard it was.
LOL on the Luna’s costume!
Marcia says
Sounds like a social whirlwind despite the allergies. I kind of love the idea of Halloween kicking off the holiday season. Why not be festive for longer, right? I’m all for it!
runswithpugs says
That’s what I’m saying!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
It sounds like you had a fun week! I spent an hour this afternoon making cute little bags of candy for our trick-or-treaters. I don’t really think of Halloween as a holiday, but more of a fun night for the kiddos. With that being said, Pablo has a harness like Luna’s only with a different theme. You’ll have to wait until Sunday night to see his picture on IG. 😉 Enjoy your Halloween!

I can’t wait to see Pablo’s pic!
