The first weekend of the month means it’s time for an ultimate coffee date! This is such a fun way to share some of the things going on in our worlds, and I would love for you to join me for a caffeinated drink and some chit chat.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That I am kind of off balance with the eclipse coming on Monday. We will have 70% totality where I live, which just seems crazy. Today, I ordered the viewing glasses. We also learned that while schools are open, they have determined that it will be an excused absence for anyone who doesn’t attend or who has one early release. The main part of the action will be from 1:50 through 4:15, which is during dismissals. I’m debating letting A stay home, and having a little eclipse party here instead.
I Would Also Tell You…
That I had my first hydrafacial! I never do anything like this, so it was definitely out of my comfort zone! I’m really not the type of person who enjoys any kind of pampering, so it was hard to let go and trust the process!
Over Coffee, I Would Share…
That I have done some fun, local things this past week. From breakfast at the farm to the sidewalk chalk art competition, I really enjoyed exploring some of the cool things our city has to offer.
While I’m Having Coffee, I’m Going To Share…
Remember that charcuterie box from a few weeks ago? Well I was asked to make TWO more! I’m so grateful for this opportunity, and excited to be asked again. I love being creative, and this is such an awesome outlet.
With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…
That the next few weeks are going to be MADNESS! We have A’s performance at UCF, followed by several spring concerts. Then some weekend parties and races, PROM, and some huge fundraisers. From there, we have his 16th birthday, my birthday, and Mother’s Day! Chaos all around!
What would you tell me over coffee? Do you have plans for the eclipse? Is anyone else entering into a crazy busy time?

I’ll be at work during the eclipse and Thing 2 has school as usual, so I don’t expect anything fun to be happening here. My sister and her family are road tripping to Carbondale, IL which is in the “path of totality” so that should be fun. You are so right about the season of pure chaos being upon us. I’m already planning the grad party!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
We’re going to have 94% here – is A’s school doing anything?? I would if I were them!
That box looks amazing! I wish you lived closer!

We have this incredible stupid law that went into place that all curriculum must be submitted and approved before the school year starts. No deviation is allowed. I don’t know if anything was built in for the younger grades, but it certainly wasn’t for A. Our schools release at 1:50 for middle, 2:50 for elementary and 3:50 for high school Our eclipse times will be from 1:50-4:15 with the peak at 3, right as elementary kids are walking home and getting on busses. The schools don’t want the liability of that, so they said if you want to get them early or keep them home, it’s excused and let’s move on. I am probably letting A stay home. He has an “open” campus where he has to go outside between buildings and then walk to the pickup point at the end of the day. I know he probably wouldn’t look, but it’s going to be nutty here. He asked all his teachers and they said they aren’t doing anything, so…

Im exctied for the eclipse! I’ve always been fascinated with astronomy stuff. I think we’re in an 80%-90% path. I’d love to catch it at 100% but don’t have the time to drive several hours to do so (and I’m already taking Wednesday thru Friday off to dogsit for my sister).
runswithpugs says
I don’t think I would drive to see it. 95N is already way backed up, and I get nervous in big swarms and mobs like that. I want to go outside and peek and then move on with my day. But we will celebrate with mocktails and moon pies.
Darlene S Cardillo says
No plans for the eclipse since I am working.
That box looks delish…
Yes, it always seems busy to me.. work trips in NYC and then tennis trip to Naples, FL with races squeezed in as well.
At least my kids are grown so it’s my own chaos.
runswithpugs says
My client said that her clients “DEMOLISHED” IT. I love to hear that.
I love the kid chaos. At least, this teenager chaos.
Deborah Brooks says
I would have pegged you for a facial and pampering girl! Hoping to catch some o the eclipse but not sure what we will see here. Got the glasses none the less!
runswithpugs says
Really???? I literally do my nails (and it’s more the art and less the manicure) and my hair and that’s it. I hate massages, pedicures, wraps, spa days and salons. I do wear makeup, but it takes me less than 10-15 minutes to put-on and I am out the door.
The glasses were super cheap, so no reason not to have them, just in case.
Jenny says
Whoa- you have a LOT going on this month. Our May will be busy, but not as busy as yours! I’ll be interested to hear what you do about the eclipse. We’re not getting as much of it down here in South Florida, but my son is in the path of totality!!! Classes are canceled for them on Monday.
So how did you like the facial? Are you going to do it again?
runswithpugs says
Oh gosh! How cool for him! I would love to see it, but no way would I leave my house for a few days other than to go outside! I hope you’ll share his thoughts!
I loved the facial. It was a hosted experience, so I would like to do it again but it retails for almost $200. I could see doing it one or two times a year, but not every 6 weeks like they recommend.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Our District will provide glasses for all of us. I am excited about it.
runswithpugs says
That’s so cool. Our district would never LOL. The teachers would have to buy them for the kids, and … well, A’s high school has over 2300 kids. Elementary schools and academies are smaller, but that’s still a lot to put on our teachers. Also, we have that ridiculous law that all curriculum must be submitted and approved before the year starts and there cannot be any deviation. So if this was not part of the plan, the teachers are legally not allowed to do anything with it.
Zenaida Arroyo says
OMG, that is awful! That is a ridiculous law. I was thinking if buying them for my students but now am glad I am not doing it. 🙂
Farrah says
I’ve heard about hydrafacials and have been curious but never got one. How was the experience?
That’s awesome that your charcuterie box was such a hit! :]
runswithpugs says
I really loved it. I’m going to have a reel and review up this week, but maybe I will do a post on it as well. They basically use this suction tool that pulls all the dirt and bacteria out of your skin, with lots of moisturizing and wiping down. I didn’t have any pain or redness, although it did tingle a little. It was basically very cooling and refreshing.
Michelle says
That box is amazing!!
I vote for a little eclipse party unless A’s school is planning somethings special 🙂
runswithpugs says
The schools aren’t doing anything for the eclipse. Too much of a risk.
