To have effective training, one must be prepared to train effectively. How’s that for zen? But training without a solid plan never ends well, so let’s look at some of my best training tips to set you up for success.
Be Consistent.
Period. Whatever training you plan to do, do it on repeat. The fastest way to build a plan into a habit is by doing it over and over and over until it’s just seamlessly incorporated into your routine.
Be Sustainable.
If you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you cannot commit to more than two half hour sessions at the gym, do not plan to start training five days a week. You won’t be able to keep up, it will lead to frustration, and you won’t continue. Plan to do exactly what you can do. When you achieve that on a regular basis, step it up a little. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Take Your Rest Days
Yes. Rest is important. Don’t burn yourself out because you were afraid of taking a break. I’m terrible about this, but it’s the truth.
Have Fun.
If you decided to start something like CrossFit, and you find out that you hate CrossFit… find something else. If you don’t love what you’re doing and you’re not having fun doing it, you’re going to quit. There are so many options for training and fitness that you don’t have to do anything that doesn’t resonate with you. I’m not saying don’t do the hard things, but do the things that suit your vibe the most. Conversely, if you see something that looks fun (like goat yoga or kayaking with bats), do that thing! You won’t ever regret it!
Celebrate Your Victories.
When you succeed at something, treat yourself. Maybe it’s an iced coffee, or a new piece of gear. It could be something small like a new lipstick, or big like a massage or spa day. Good things deserve recognition. Give yourself that extra love.

These are perfect!! esp the last one, I seem to focus on what I didn’t do or how slow I ran.

Great tips! Sports are a very important part of our lives. I love running, even in winter. Then all I have to do is put on my beloved wool leggings and I can run even in the coldest weather. Good clothing is essential.

I love these! Running should be fun. I understand that now everyone likes but why run if you are not going to like it or have fun? Oh, and not every run will go well.
