On this Tuesday, we take a little bit of a break from the regular running and fitness content. lnstead, let’s change it up and talk about some of my favorites of the year so far.
My Favorite Date Night
We had a lot of really cool dates so far, but I think my favorite was probably the Tasting Tours Corks + Forks walking tour. What a great way to spend an afternoon: walking through a city I love, enjoying yummy food and drink from some awesome bars and restaurants. More of this, please.
My Favorite Race
Ok, so we couldn’t avoid all running things, right? My favorite race this year had to be the Burn Your Half Off 5K in Chattanooga. It was a new to me race in a new to me city, and it has the added benefit of river views and a fun after party.
My Favorite Vacation
This is a tough one. I absolutely loved our family time in Chattanooga, but New Orleans was an absolutely wild time. I’ll give some love to the Big Easy for this one. But remember, this decision isn’t final… we have a few more trips to come! It was great getting to enjoy a bit of Mardi Gras, as well as so many awesome things in and around the city.
My Favorite Movie
I used to watch movies all the time, and I would even take myself to the theatre to see them. Lately, I just haven’t been in the mood for that, even with the promise of theatre popcorn. I’ve had a hard time focusing and so it just hasn’t seemed worth it. The boys go way more than me. We’ve seen the newest Deadpool and the Beetlejuice sequel, as well as a few others this year, but the one that really kept my attention was Twisters. Was it great? Absolutely not. But was it a really nice way to pay homage to the original? I thought so. Of course, watching it a week before the hourlong tornado warnings from Helene was not the best idea for my anxiety, but what can you do?
My Favorite Moment
Was it drinking iced coffee with alpacas in the Blue Ridge Mountains?
Or was it kayaking with 70,000 bats? It’s really hard to say.
And that’s all I’ve got!

Oh, that kayak trip with the bats looks awesome!
We went to watch Twister with my parents in an outdoor cinema here in Zurich. And guess what? A storm came up. It was windy, with thunder and lightning. It was hard to tell which lightning was real or which one was in the film. It was like a 4-D experience!

Yikes!
Confession: I am deathly afraid of tornadoes. Those and earthquakes are my two weather no-nos. However, I love anomalies in nature, so I really want to drive out west to see one of them in action. I would probably expire on the spot, because i’d be so scared.

I think coffee with the alpacas would be pretty awesome! I don’t think I could pick a favorite movie this year. We’ve seen a lot of movies, but none of them have been memorable.

I hate that we are in a rut. I forgot to mention I saw A Quiet Place prequel and that was actually beautifully done. Not a favorite exactly, but a good quality movie.

You’ve had a lot of fun stuff going on this year! It is hard to pick out our favorites because each has its own reason to be special. I agree with Catrina and Wendy, kayaking and playing with the alpacas would top my list of your favorites!

I was going back through photos and really struggling.
Darlene Cardillo says
Like Wendy said I can’t remember a good movie.
Coffee with alpacas would a favorite.
This is a great topic. I’ll have post something like this toward the end of the year.

I am super picky about movies. I am not above being entertained, but I generally like those super heavy, character driven, annoying pieces. We saw Furiosa last night, and that was decent. I want to see Poor Things (from a while back). I’ll probably see Wicked and I think I can see The Substance, but horror isn’t my jam anymore.

I haven’t been to the movie theatre in years. I have thought of taking a half day off to see a movie. I should stop thinking about it and just do it. I want to see Twister.
