It’s October, and it’s spooky season, and it’s time for our favorite… the October Coffee Date!
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Let’s dive in!
Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That I just learned my favorite Cuban restaurant makes an ICED cafe con leche. Their cafe con leche was the ONLY coffee I drank hot, but apparently, they can also pour it over ice and voila! Perfection! It’s called
“La Nani” and the menu says it’s two shots of sweetened Cuban expresso over ice with milk and a caramel drizzle. I skipped the caramel, because I don’t like my coffee too sweet, but this is just glorious.
I Would Also Share…
That I was super quiet on social media this week. This was just not a great week. Between Hurricane Helene, school closures, and some other not so great news, I couldn’t get myself to post photos and create captions. It happens. That being said, I’ve been out there consistently, doing my thing, even if I didn’t share.
With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…
That we are in the throes of Bandtober. Our first event was on Saturday, and the nerves were high. Since school was closed for the storm on Thursday and Friday, we weren’t even sure if the district would let us go through with it, but they did. And while we did have some cancellations and withdrawals due to bands going from affected areas, the show was a huge success. A started with rehearsals from 9-11, a volunteer shift from 11:30-3 and then a small break for dinner, warmups, and a gorgeous performance at 8:30 under the lights. We volunteered from 11:30 to 5, left to shower, change, and eat, and then came back to cheer the band on. They look so great this year and I am so proud.
If We Were Having Coffee, I Would Share…
That we are getting ready to embark on a really fun adventure, and I wish my anxiety would let me enjoy it more. One day at a time, right?
My Final Coffee Thought Is…
I am just devastated over all of the people who have lost so much in the last week. It’s difficult to wrap my head around so much catastrophic loss. Having lived in Florida since 1994, I do have a lot of experience with what hurricanes and giant storms can do, but it still never quite prepares you for how Mother Nature can rip things apart. My thoughts are with all those working to rebuild right now. Below are listed some reputable agencies accepting donations to assist with the disaster efforts. Every little bit helps.
What would you tell me over coffee?

I’m glad Bandtober got to happen, but it sounds exhausting!
Sorry you had a stressful week. I think I reached my limit on work stress and just can’t react anymore.
Darlene S Cardillo says
For me next week will be super busy and stressful… hope yours calms down.
Excited to hear where your adventure takes you.
