How have we gotten to this point? I’m three weeks behind in my rundowns! Yikes! In fairness, we have been traveling and swamped, but some super cool things have been happening, too. I’m going to set up this post with the past week at the top, and then I’ll do a fun photo-based summary of the two prior weeks! Let’s go!
Sunday
- Cardio: 2.17 miles, walking
Of course, I was exhausted, but we had places to be, so I sucked it up and got in as many miles as I could before I had to shower and change. Yes, the pugs were included.
And then we crammed in all the Halloween! I tried the fall lineup at a local coffee shop, and Mr PugRunner and I went to a Black Lagoon pop up, picked pumpkins, and had a Halloween themed snack board while the kids carved.
Monday
- Cardio: 1.69 miles, running
I promise it gets better, but it was dark and I had to get to Orlando to see Meghan!
We had the most amazing day planned! First, we had a ghostly photo shoot at one of the beautiful parks in the area. I’ve been so excited for this trend, and Meghan was more than happy to be a part of it!
And then it was off to our next stop: a behind-the-scenes penguin tour at Sea World! I have had one penguin encounter in my life. It was about 10 years ago in Tennessee, and I was allowed to have my photo taken sitting next to said penguin. In this tour, we were invited into the back of the actual penguin habitat! Our group was separated from the animals by a small baby gate, and the penguins who wanted to come see us were allowed in and out as they pleased! Bonus: we got to pet them!!!!
I don’t know why I thought a dress was appropriate for a tour in 32F, but here we are, and I survived. We had Mexican food, and then I made the long drive home. Worth it.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 7.35 miles, running + walking
Happy Tuesday! It was time to get out and go! I met up with J for our morning run, and then I took Princess Luna to the vet. She needed a gland expression and an allergy shot. When that was finished, I washed all the bedding, gave the pugs a bath, and set in for some cuddle time.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.03 miles. running
It was another beautiful morning. I did a little speed work for a change.
The rest of my day was filled with client meetings, lunch with my parents, and book club. I was so glad I got to attend!
Thursday
- Cardio: 7.05 miles, running + walking
- Strength: eGym, 2 circuits
Happy Halloween!
I got in a decent run, despite the humidity.
A decided he would spend the holiday at his girlfriend’s house, so we went to hang out with friends at a Dip-O-Ween party – the whole menu was basically dips. Yum.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.04 miles, running
- Strength: eGym, 2 circuits
TGIF! We were prepped for a busy weekend, so I got in my miles, and settled in.
I also unboxed my welcome package from Alter Ego Running – I’m on the GREEN team: Team Timbers!
Saturday
- Cardio: 2.38 miles, walking
Double header day! But first, we walk!
The band started their morning at MPA – an adjudicated performance for marching. Straight Superiors? You know it!
From there, they took al little field trip to the bowling alley for a fun afternoon. They deserve it after all their hard work! But then it was time to wrap up and move on to their second show of the day: a competition that was rescheduled from the hurricanes, and moved to a closer school!
It was another late night, but I’m so glad they had the chance to squeeze in another show! They swept their class AND took overall runner up! Their score improved by over ten points from their first run of the show! Amazing!
RUNDOWN REWIND!
If you want to journey with me over the two prior weeks, this is the time!
Sunday, 10/13 – Saturday, 10/19
Of course, there was running and walking every day. Some of those days were obscenely early, so I don’t have photos of them.
We got to attend a media ribbon cutting on board a new catamaran: the Fury. We had a great night with apps, drinks, and live music, and have rescheduled another outing for Nights Of Lights.
I got a much needed hair cut and color, too!
On Friday of that week, we all got up before dawn and dropped A at the busses at school. We followed the band to Clemson University for a rehearsal and then on to NC.
The Western Carolina University Tournament of Champions was on, and wanted to great a wonderful event after the horrors of Hurricane Helene. We arrived with tons of donations for the WCU organizers, and the kids put on a tremendous show, coming in 3rd in their class, winning Fan Favorite, and earning a spot at finals, where they came in 6th place overall.
It was a beautiful event in a stunning location, and I’m so glad we were able to make it work.
Sunday, 10/20 – Saturday, 10/26
More running this week! Again, most mornings were so dark I didn’t bother with a photo.
On Sunday, we drove home. The kids detoured through Atlanta for a stop at a food hall and the aquarium. They didn’t roll home until about 2AM, which was ROUGH.
I worked three days of early elections this week. The shifts are from 7AM – 7PM, and the days are long. We processed almost 3000 people over the three days, which is unheard of! On the plus side, I did get to vote! Needless to say, I was absolutely exhausted and ready for sleep. But we had another band trip!
We were up and at ’em bright and early on Saturday for the run to BOA Orlando. Once again, our band outdid themselves. Their prelims run earned them a spot in finals, and they took 7th overall, which was incredible! Their competition was FIERCE, and they were one of the smaller bands to make finals. We are so proud of them. As a band in only its 3rd year of actual competition, this was a huge win.
We left right after their finals run, getting home at almost 11, while they came in around 2 again. And then it was time for everyone to get some rest!

I can see why you weren’t able to join us the last couple of weeks! So busy!
How fun you got to pet the penguins! I have to ask–whenever I’ve seen penguins at the zoo, they are smelly. Was it smelly?
Have a good week!
runswithpugs says
It wasn’t super smelly. We were in their habitat, which is super cold, and they do eat fish so there is a fishy smell, but to me, it was no different than being in a stable or other animal environment. It was clean and the animals were beautifully cared for, and that reflects in the smell.

You’ve been busy! Love your ghostly photo shoot and how amazing to be able to pet (?) the penguins!!!!!
runswithpugs says
Yes! We were allowed to pet them on their backs! It was amazing!
Jenny says
WOW. The band really is busy in October!!! Our band doesn’t do the competitive marching, so it’s just once a week rehearsals (at this point) and the football games. Anyway, what a fun month for the kids- and buys month for you!
Thanks again for working the polls. I’ve heard that voting numbers are up, which I think (hope) is a good thing.
runswithpugs says
It’s so interesting how every band does things a little differently. Our director is very much on the competitive track and we are here for it. But it’s a lot!
Voting numbers are through the roof! It’s going to be absolutely chaos on Tuesday!

We had so much fun taking those pics. Were people in the park staring us? Oh yeah. But that’s ok!
Susanne says
You’ve been keeping busy! Seems like some enjoyable few weeks. Nice work keeping up your running and walking and strength work in the meantime. The penguins are super cute! That must have been a special experience getting so close to them.

Penguins! So cute!! The band is doing so good! That’s exciting. What great memories they are making. So many fun things happening for you in the past week. Your Hallowen snack board looks so delish!!
runswithpugs says
They are amazing! Especially when you consider this is only their 3rd year of actual competition (the school is only four years old). I’m so proud of them.
