How is it time to ring in the New Year again? It seems like only yesterday we were waking up to a shiny new 2024! Time marches on, I guess, and we are compelled to go along for the ride. How are we celebrating tonight? Let’s talk about it.
Keep Our Loved Ones Close
I’m a serious homebody on New Year’s Eve, so we are going to get the party started by keeping that “party” at home. I also have no interest in driving on a “drinking night.” Instead, we are going to rustle up some board games and make our own fun. It’s always great to be out with loud music and lots of people, but chilling at home can be just as amazing.
Dress Down
I always love the chance to get glammed up and go out on the town, but Tuesday night will be all about the cozy clothes. We are encouraging “soft pants” and cuddly blankets and it’s going to be just wonderful. This season has been colder than normal, making it preferable to bundle up in sweatshirts and pajamas, and I’m leaning into that while it lasts.
Easy Snacks Only
While I love cooking, I have zero interest in using all my chef skills on Tuesday night. Growing up, we always enjoyed heavy appetizers on New Year’s Eve, and I would love to do more of the same tonight. It’s easy to make something everyone enjoys, and it’s usually pretty easy to set out some dips and snacks. I might have a grazing board in me, but that’s to be determined.
Maybe Stay Up Til Midnight
I am an early to bed, early to rise kind of lady, so making it til midnight is usually never in the cards. It used to be a really big deal to watch the ball drop, but now I would just rather say my goodnights and turn in. New Year’s Day is Mr PugRunner’s birthday, so I like to be able to get up and get a jump on his special day. A midnight bedtime doesn’t really click with that.
Start 2025 With A Run (Or Walk)
Obviously the new year will start with some miles. Whether it’s a run or walk will depend entirely on how well I sleep, but there’s not a world where a workout isn’t part of the deal. It will set the tone for the year! Who doesn’t love going into the new year with the habits you want to continue for the next 365 days?
How are you ringing in the new year? Do you prefer to go out or chill at home? Stay up til midnight or call it an early night?

It looks like we are spending this evening very similarly!
I love the idea of ringing in the New Year with a pug run. That sounds like a paw-sitively perfect way to start the first day of the year!

I’m with you on all of the above, except my hubby’s birthday isn’t tomorrow. 😉
Happy New Year!

That’s just an added layer!

Sounds like the perfect way to ring in the New Year to me! We will be staying home–we always do. The hubs will cook something special for us. Then we’ll probably be in bed by 9 lol. I’m definitely running tomorrow!
Happy New Year!

I made it past 9pm but 10 might do me in.

Happy new year to you and your family!
We’re taking it very easy. Dinner, then being cosy by the fire with chocolate, cheese and movies. Hopefully we’ll make it to midnight!

That sounds amazing. We are watching The 6888 and enjoyed some dinner and ice cream. I’ll be in bed before midnight.

I used to make sure I stayed up to watch the ball drop… nope not likely.
We are going out to an early dinner and tomorrow hopefully run… if it doesn’t rain.
runswithpugs says
I don’t think it will rain here but it is getting cold again. I’ll still get out there.

Great plans! I went to bed early. My cousin invited us to her house but we stayed home.

Sounds like a wonderful plan to me.
