Every so often, I like to revisit my running bucket list, the list of races I really, really, really want to run. As you know, my goal is to run 50 races in 50 states, so my bucket list shifts based on where I’m traveling next, or where our adventures may take us sooner. Let’s look at the next round of races I hope to check off my bucket list.

Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile
I’m doing it. I’m entering the lottery for next year. Will I do the 10 mile or the 5K? That remains to be seen. I’m not great at 10 mile races, but it would be iconic. DC is not crossed off my list, yet. And of course, what if the cherry blossoms aren’t blooming? Ugh! But no guts, no glory. I am going to give it a shot.

Wineglass Half Marathon
Yes, the NYC Marathon would be a great way to get New York crossed off, but … there is just something about the Wineglass that appeals. Could it be the wine? Who knows? I love races that are part of a full experience, and with a series featuring a 5K, 8K, Half and Full, this event would be just that. It would be a beautiful vacation spot, as well.

Kentucky Derby Mini Marathon
For my 50th birthday (in two years), I want to go to the Kentucky Derby. I want the full experience with the dresses and hats, the food and drink, and all the horses. I also want to run my own race (clearly much slower than any of the ponies). It will be an epic holiday, if we can make it work, and it would be great to cross off the state of Kentucky, as well as have an outrageous birthday celebration. Fingers crossed.

Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon
Have passport, will race. Michigan has been on my list of places to visit, and I can see it coming in the next few years. With that, we will hopefully still be able to complete 13.1 miles, with a turnaround over the Canadian border. What an epic way to run.

Coastal Delaware Running Festival
For some reason, Delaware is calling me, and I think I should go. Once again, a nice race weekend experience sounds like the most wonderful idea. And Rehoboth Beach is supposed to be gorgeous. I grew up in New Jersey, so I do have fond memories of Delaware, and perhaps it’s time to revisit and check off another great race!

I’ve heard great things about alot of these! I almost signed up for the Coastal Delaware marathon this year but I realized the training was too soon after my last marathon. Maybe next year!
It looks really fun!
Hopefully the Candians will let the runners in by the time the race happens. 🙂
This sounds like a great list. How many states have you run in so far? It’s not one of my goals, which is fortunate since I realize I’ve only raced in three states!
Right???
I’ve done 13 states. I should have at least 14 this year. And so it goes.
I used to live in Louisville. My friend was training for the mini. This was before I was doing races (when I moved to S FL from there, I started races). I ran with her once when she was doing… idk 3-5 miles. We accidentally ran like 8! I don’t think I had ran more than 3 before lol (she missed the turn around).
Idk if you like fireworks, but the fireworks for the Derby is a great show. Exceeds their Independence Day show!
Whoops! That’s a big jump lol!
I don’t love fireworks, but I would be up to see them at the Derby!
