How is it May already? I feel like I ask this every month, but this bizarre year is marching on quickly. I haven’t had much time to even take it all in!

After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.

Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That my sweet boy turned 17 on Tuesday! He had a lovely, chill day, which is how he prefers it. It was nice celebrating with ice cream cake, and we will celebrate again on Mother’s Day, when we see my parents.

I Would Also Tell You…
Business is BOOMING! Between online and personal work, I am away from home more than I am there. Today, I made the decision to close my online calendar to new clients for a bit. At least until my regular jobs settle down. I hate to turn down work, but the next few months are pretty hectic and I need to take a breather to make sure I’m not stretching too thin.

Over Coffee, I Would Share…
That I think next week will be our busiest week of the year. We’ve got prom, Cinco De Mayo, the spring concert, a big Yelp event, my birthday, possibly a 5K, the local food and wine festival, the band banquet and Mother’s Day. It’s exciting when everything hits all at once, but I hate not having the time to savor it all.

While I’m Having Coffee, I’m Going To Share…
That I am back in the gym. Two days in a row! It’s been challenging fitting it in between clients, and I really don’t want to get up any earlier than I already am. It felt awful, but also good. So maybe the plan of attack is to commit to one or two days per week, and go from there. I think I just had to figure out a way to make it work. I’ve got time next week so I’ll be able to continue the momentum.

With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…
That I am in desperate need of a recharge. I didn’t realize until this week how run down I am, mentally and emotionally, and even a little bit physically. My focus has been on holding everything together, but it’s not a sustainable model and I need a little downtime. A tropical island would be nice, but I’ll have to make do with taking a few days off and trying to slow down.

What would you tell me over coffee?

Aw, happy birthday A! Sounds like a VERY busy time for you! But, filled with all good things. Getting to the gym a couple days a week sounds reasonable. And, having too many clients sounds like a good problem to have!
Yup. It’s a hectic time and I’m not mad about most of it. I think I had a discouraging few days, and I just need to rally from that (which I am, right now).
Happy birthday to your son! May is so busy always! I had a feeling that your business would really take off! Learning to say no, or not right now is a skill 🙂
It’s a skill I struggle with. I don’t want to lose out on business, and when I have a great client, I don’t want to disappoint them. It’s challenging.
Happy almost-birthday.
Your plans for the coming week don’t sound like much of a step-back, but it does sounds like a lot of fun!
It sounds like you get a lot of Yelp perks — well-deserved!
haha! No, but at least these are fun things where i don’t have to cook!
Our current Yelp Community Manager is amazing. She is leaving us for Austin, which stinks. Hopefully our new one is as wonderful!
Happy Birthday to A and you! I swear everything hits in May. It’s fun and stress all rolled into one. I hope you can find time to rest and recharge amidst this busy season.
May is chaos. I am hopeful that I can get a bit of a break.
Happy Birthday to A!
I always ask why is May the busiest month?! It’s great that your business is doing so well. I do hope you can find a way to carve out some down time for yourself!
I have no idea! It’s nuts!
I am looking forward to a social week, but I shut down my calendar so I can enjoy.
Sounds like your business has really taken off! Kind of a good problem, but I’m sure the stress of growing your business vs. giving yourself grace (and rest/recovery) is tough. Happy Birthday to you and the 17-yr old!
Thank you!
It all happened so quickly. I figured I’d have a dog walk here and a house sit there, but I’m getting multiple, overlapping requests. Definitely a great problem, but it was a shock.
Happy Birthday early – exciting to have so much momentum, but just reading this made me feel a bit overwhelmed. It sounds smart to take a pause especially with such a busy month coming up. Deep breath!
WTG on getting your gym routine on track, too!
Thank you!
And yeah. I was going strong and the other day I was like “nope. Can’t sustain this!” I was absolutely getting overwhelmed.
Happy almost bday and happy belated to your son! And yay for getting back to the gym! I know how hard it is to get back into it – so way to go! Also yay for business booming. Those doggos are so cute!
Oh, it’s the worst to go and it’s even worse than that going back! I hate it!
I have to say that my clients are the most adorable. Each one is cuter than the next.
Aww, happy birthday to your son and happy early birthday to you! I hope you get some time to relax and recharge soon too—I definitely feel like this year has been charging along full speed ahead.
Thank you! I really need a little time alone in a quiet place with little to no stimulation. That would be ideal.
I think it’s a crazy time of year for everyone, especially parents. Congrats on building such a great business, and it’s great that you can put a paws (see what I did there?) on new clients temporarily.
Happy belated birthday to A and happy early birthday to you!
Haha! I see exactly what you did and it’s hilarious!
I need to learn to not read blogs right before supper. That cake is making me ravenous.
The days can be long, but goodness the years are short!
Haha! It was so good!
Happy Belated Birthday to you son! He is handsome young man. Way to go on committing to the gym. I can imagine how difficult it must be to wake up even earlier, but it will be worth it.
