Here we go again! It’s 2026 and today, we have our very first runfessions of the year! One would think there wouldn’t be much to write about in only 30 days, but what a year this month has been!

For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
Let’s Start By Runfessing…
That I spent three days in the gym this month. Is this a great start? Nope! But it IS a start. I just don’t have the hours in a day to make it all happen. As I’m sure you know, strength training is at the bottom of my barrel of things I enjoy, so it’s often the first thing I’m rescheduling. One day at a time.

Next, I’ll Runfess…
That it’s cold here. Really cold. I know that seems ridiculous, but we are having deep freezes and temps are in the 20s overnight. Brrr. I don’t have too many running outfits for this level of cold, so you’re probably seeing and will continue to see a lot of rewears. I like to mix it up, but sometimes it can’t be done.

My Next Runfession Is…
That with the cold, I am getting up LATE. I still like to get out first thing, but I also want the sun to warm us up a little bit. I miss the sunrises, but I also loathe leaving my cozy bed.

I Runfess…
That a few months ago, I saw a video of a creator who got up one day, hopped on a flight from Orlando to NYC, got herself an aesthetic bagel, picked up a picnic basket which she enjoyed in central park, shopped in her favorite vintage stores, had a viral coffee, and then went home. It made me realize that sometimes, we can just be spontaneous and do cool things. I promptly told my husband, and while the NYC in a day plan hasn’t come to fruition yet, we did go swimming with manatees on a random Wednesday. Free will and adult money makes for an amazing combination.

Finally, I Would Runfess…
That work was challenging this week. I’ve been pretty spoiled by some pretty incredible clients (two- and four-legged alike), but there were some situations that arose this week that I did not enjoy navigating. All is well, and we are moving forward but I’m happy to be done with any issues.

Jenn, it is COLD down in South Florida too!!! We’re going to have several nights down into the 30s which never, ever happens. BRRR! I don’t even own clothes for this kind of weather.
I’m also having trouble getting to the gym. I have some weights I can use at home, but it’s not the same. Part of the problem is that my gym is so crowded, and I hate that. Add that to the fact that I don’t love strength training to begin with, and it’s really hard to make myself go.
Glad your challenging week is just about over! Let’s hope for smooth sailing ahead.
Hey, you got to the gym three times! I think I ran outside three times, so we’re even. 😉
Sorry about the work stress. Glad things got resolved. We had some doozies last week, but luckily I was not involved!
Haha!
Everything is fine, thank goodness, and I am moving forward. But sometimes, in the moment… Ugh.
Hey 3 times is a great start for the gym. Forward motion is good. It’s been really cold everywhere I think! AT least you have lots of sunshine. Hope your work drama is resolved. Have a great weekend
We do have sunshine, and it does help.
Making it to the gym is progress regardless of how many times!
I love your spontaneous swim with the manatees! It’s great to just dive in and try something new.
Good to hear that your work issues have been resolved. Hope you have quieter days ahead!
While I love planning, being spontaneous is awesome too.
3 times is better than < 3 times!
We were just talking about the 20s in FL and feel for you. While I'd be de-lighted with 24 degrees, I have all the gear 10 times over. Sorry I can't share with you! Maybe if you make your fun escape to the frozen tundra of Chicago?? lol
You are so right. Three is better than less than three.
I was actually just looking at winter running jackets. It seems so frivolous for just a few days or weeks, but at the same time… I don’t want to freeze. Ugh. Maybe I’ll just do it.
I do want to get to Chicago again. But not in winter lol.
My gym attendance is lacking. I was sick but now I’m not but I don’t get out of bed. Then it’s too late.
This am -18 wind chill. Now that’s cold.
I hope Florida warms up by Feb 11.
Spontaneously taking a trip. I love that.
I don’t want to get out of bed these mornings, either. I blame my weighted blanket.
I’ve been seeing your radical temps this week! It’s not that much colder here, but probably (still) windier, LOL. I’m grateful for all the sunshine & increased daylight… those were a couple of nice January blessings!
I don’t know… we had some nasty wind! If you get a chance, look up Gasparilla 2026 – it’s the pirate weekend in Tampa. Those poor people were frozen, soaked, and blown around!
Whew! Stay warm Jenn! I swear it’s cold everywhere right now. We’ve ad prolonged sub-z temps and I’m so over it. The manatee encounter must’ve been SO COOL!
We are trying to stay warm, but we just aren’t as equipped!
The manatee encounter was amazing and I wish we could do it again.
