If you know anything about me, it’s that I’m always down for an adventure. Maybe it’s a little local activity that’s out of the norm. Or it could be a big trip across the country that’s just calling my name. Either way, I love getting out of my routine and finding new places to explore!

Let’s Take It To The Beach
While I don’t always love spending a whole day at the beach, I will always want to check out the ocean (or any body of water) anywhere I go. It’s worth the 20-30 minute drive from my house to get my miles on the sand, and I love the added adventure of the jetties and beach rocks to add a hiking element to my fitness. The beaches in NE Florida provide views, waves, and even sights of dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, and manatees, so you get a little of everything.

Climb High
I didn’t grow up around mountains, but I do love them, so. Grandfather Mountain is one of my favorite places to run, climb, and explore, facing hikes of varying difficulties. Most of my “serious” hiking experience is on the East Coast, which I know is very different from the trails and summits of the Midwest and West, but this is truly one of my happy adventure spots.

Let’s Chat About It
We recently visited Chattanooga and it was such an incredible mix of rural and urban spaces. From our hotel lobby, I could easily explore the city or the riverfront, and it wasn’t a far drive to trailheads and parks. Part of adventure is the idea of always have something new to see, and I loved the mix of terrains and sights. Whether I was running over the river at sunrise, kayaking wtih bats, or slipping through narrow crevices, Chattanooga always had something fun to offer.

A Maine Event
I often say I would move to Maine in a heartbeat. It’s such a cool state with so many cooler cities… and plenty of places to adventure. The best part is fueling with lobster and wild blueberries any time you like, which is a giant selling point for me. My only regret is that even though I’ve visited, I have yet to race there, but my day is coming. Maine will give you mountains, parks, oceans and lakes, and all kinds of weather. I miss the misty mornings and the gorgeous sunrises.
