Falling Into The Daily Routine

August 30, 2025      23 Comments

For all that I love adventure, I’m even more excited about falling back into the daily routine. There’s something so reassuring about going on autopilot and knowing exactly what comes next. I’ll be honest: things have been pretty chaotic, so any sense of stability is so very welcome.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 4.93 miles, walking

After a late night, it was great to not have to be up at the crack of dawn. Yay for small victories.

I finished up with my final overnight client for a few weeks, and while I will miss those puppies (until next time), I was so glad to get home to my own. I think I just camped out on the couch for the rest of the day, with zero guilt and no regrets.

Monday

  • Cardio: 6.97 miles, running + stair stepper, 10 minutes
  • Strength: Upper body workout, 30 minutes

Who was feeling motivated to get the week started with a bang? This girl! I had a really great run, where I increased my intervals, and felt extremely proud of myself for it.

Did I make it to the gym for a little strength session? I most certainly did! It was a fabulous Monday.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 7 miles, running + .51 miles, walking

Once again, I pushed myself to get in those miles. And afterwards, Mr PugRunner and I went out for coffee and breakfast, which was a nice, midweek treat.

I also spent time with my regular walking client. As it gets cooler, we can go farther, and that’s great for both of us.

In the evening, I returned to Scouts, as I am still a merit badge counselor. I got one of the Scouts through her merit badge, and will be back next time they need me!

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 7.31 miles, walking

I did some of my walking in the neighborhood, and then some with my puppy client. Miles are miles.

there was also a meeting with a social media client. Friends, there is just a lot going on. I got plenty of great feedback and dove back into work.

And then, I was back to book club! It’s been months, and I was so excited to return! I am working on purging things in the house for our future move, so it was nice to donate some books to the other ladies! For the record, our book was “A Beautiful Couple” by Leslie Wolfe. The group rated it three stars (I gave it two), and next month we are reading “The Seven Year Slip” by Ashley Poston.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 3.04 miles, running + 3.96 miles, walking

I was starting in with two sets of clients today, so I got up at the crack of dawn to get started. I actually got severely delayed with a rare morning storm, so I was only able to squeeze in roughly three miles before meeting up with a friend for a walk and coffee. I know it’s PSL season, but I’m not a fan. Instead, I got a cold brew with butterscotch cold foam. Yum.

Friday

  • Cardio: 4.06 miles, running + 1.98 miles, walking

I had a really busy day with a total of six visits. Of course things started early. And they ended late with Friday night lights! Mr PugRunner and I helped serve dinner to the band, and then I finally got to see a little of their performance. A surprised us in that he is part of a visual piece, a woodwind feature, and a flag number.

Their show is almost done, and I can’t wait to see the whole thing! It’s reallllllly good!

Saturday

  • Cardio: 3.36 miles, walking

This will be my last ridiculously early morning for quite some time and I am happy about that. I squeezed in a quick walk, and then started making my rounds.

And then it was just a day of work, dogs, and chilling with the fam.

Thoughts + Goals

So, A got a lovely surprise when his girlfriend showed up at Friday night’s game to surprise him for the weekend! He was thrilled and it’s so sweet to see them together again! I love it!

Even though we don’t really have a big Labor Day weekend planned, I am registered for our local Labor Day 5K and I am pretty excited about it. It’s not going to be pretty, but it will be a return.

We are really digging in to plan our fall, and that really feels fantastic.

I am also a person who craves and thrives on routine. This summer has been filled with travel and I am looking forward to getting back to my routine as well whenever things calm down. Way to keep active on a busy week!

I love all the travel, but yes. This Friday, it’s pajamas, cozy blanket, and couch. Most of the day. I have zero regrets.

I love seeing you bubble with energy like this! You had a great week with good running and walking and strength. I can totally relate to the joy of getting into routine. I certainly had a routine in Italy, but I love adding back proper gym sessions to it!

Yay for retuning to a routine! I’m back on that wagon myself (new job), and it does feel good. My Labor Day weekend has been busy (both Friday &Saturday nights, as well as most of yesterday), so today is a bit of recovery. But, there’s still tomorrow to look forward to 😉

You went to the gym! Nice job, and nice job getting all those runs in. I’m wondering if your temps cooled down at all up there- it’s still hot and humid down here, of course.
That’s so sweet A’s girlfriend surprised him!!! Nice that she’s close enough to visit like that.
Good luck on the 5k- I’m sure it’ll be fun.

Actually, today was beautiful! Low humidity and cool. And breezy!

It was so cute! I had to leave so I didn’t see the grand reunion but one of the band kids got it on video.

The 5K was ok. I rolled the heck out of my good ankle, to the point I thought I sprained it. I’m ok but I had so much PTSD from my other leg and I crossed the finish line crying. But that’s ok! I’m back!

So glad to hear that you are running a 5k. I know you’ve missed racing. Finishing is a win!!

Another busy week with so many varied activities!

Good idea to start purging… I need desperately to do that even though we don’t plan to move.

It’s always great to go through your things and sort of remove everything that no longer serves you. It’s not a fun job but it does feel good when it’s done.

Oh man, that is such a sweet surprise for your son!! Butterscotch cold foam does sound pretty good. I also am not a fan of PSL. I have been whipping up so much cold foam at my house (pun intended!) and so far every flavor I’m made has been a win. I haven’t tried a butterscotch yet!

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
