Passing On The Pumpkin Spice Latte

I love a coffee date and I love fall, but I’m not Team PSL.

Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…

That my dislike of Pumpkin Spice Latte has nothing to do with sugar or calories or nutrition, and simply that the flavor profile doesn’t work for me. Give me maple or butterscotch, or even just some cinnamon and horchata. But what I will also tell you is that I am so happy for those who love this time of year. It’s nice to have little, whimsical moments of joy. What I do NOT love is the people who come in with their judgment, going on and on about how unhealthy a PSL can be. Most people are very aware of that fact. But I will try hard to never begrudge anyone their little treat. Life is hard. I’m all about preserving the bright spots.

I Would Also Tell You…

That this was a tough week, and I very much did need a sweet treat to get through it. A certain college kiddo has had a rough week and all I want to do is jump in and fix it. It’s nothing earth shattering, but it’s hard to sit back when someone who love is having a no-good, terrible, awful, yucky week and there’s not much you can do than offer “words of great encouragement.”

Over Coffee, I Would Share…

That I am about to watch Project Hail Mary for the 16th time and am re-reading the book. This movie has become my comfort watch and security blanket, and the book is very much the same. I don’t know how it happened, but it’s really making helping me regulate all the big feelings I’m having right now. I read that the story and relationship between Grace and Rocky really resonates with so many, because of the way two fundamentally different beings come together to collaborate without ego, and have genuine curiosity and interest in each other’s knowledge to create something bigger than both of them, and that concept really does hit hard.

While I’m Having Coffee, I’m Going To Share…

That even though we haven’t gotten our kitchen quote in, I’m diving into house work. Every few days, I’m emptying and reorganizing a cabinet or two. I’m purging and donating. And I finally straightened out our gallery wall! I had been using command strips and a few of them gave up. For some reason, I just left the frames down. But I picked up a few more, added A’s senior photos and the two “ugly” portraits of the pugs. I’m waiting on two more photos to hang, but it looks a million times better.

With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…

That Mr PugRunner and I are actually having weekly coffee dates. It gets us both out of the house and we can get in some work with a change of scenery. We are also making an effort to check out some of the different coffee shops in the area, which is fun. Since we both love supporting local, it works out on several fronts.
