There are two types of people who emerge when fall hits: those who buy one pumpkin and call it a day, and those who make spooky season their entire personality. Three guesses which camp I fall into (and the first two don’t count) While October is notorious for fun-size candy and horror movie marathons on the couch, staying active right now doesn’t have to meananother routine treadmill session while staring at a wall. In fact, this season practically begs us to play outside and get a little silly with our fitness.
If you want to mix things up, here are five adorable, Halloween-themed workouts that bring all the spooky vibes, without taking themselves too seriously!

The Haunted Walking Tour
I’m super lucky to live in one of the most haunted places in the country. St. Augustine is full of stories of ghosts, spirits, and things that go bump in the night. Combined with my love of a good walk, joining up with a haunted tour is a great way to mix a little history with some fitness, and maybe even meet some new friends. Highly recommend.

Jack-O’-Lantern Kettlebell (Or Pumpkin!) Strength Circuits
Before you carve up your front porch pumpkins, put those heavy gourds to work! A medium-to-large pumpkin weighs anywhere from 8 to 15 pounds, making it the ultimate natural kettlebell. Take your workout out to the grass and run through a mini-circuit: pumpkin gobble squats, overhead pumpkin presses, Russian twists, and pumpkin sumo deadlifts. It’s surprisingly challenging, wildly festive, and makes for the cutest autumn backyard photo op.

The Scaredy-Cat Interval Sprint Challenge
If you need to get speedwork done this week, make it a game! Head to a local park or highly decorated neighborhood street, with a spooky Halloween playlist stacked with high-bpm tracks (think “Thriller,” “Monster Mash,” or dramatic horror movie themes). Use the music cues for fartlek-style interval training: sprint every time a dramatic chorus hits or a villain laughs, then recover during the quiet verses. It turns a tough interval run into a hilarious, game-ified workout that flies by.

Witchy Patio Yoga & Stretch Sessions
After a week of pounding the pavement, give your hamstrings and hips some witchy magic. Set up your yoga mat on your back porch or living room rug surrounded by dim lighting, a fallcandle, and your favorite warm drink waiting nearby. Focus on deep, restorative poses like Downward-Facing Dog, Cat-Cow (naturally!), and Cobra pose. Moving slowly in a cozy, ambient environment is the best way to release tension and soothe your nervous system before the weekend rush.

The Candy-Corn Pyramid Core & Bodyweight Burner
Got 15 minutes while waiting for dinner to cook? Do a candy-corn-inspired pyramid workout right in your living room. Pick three simple bodyweight moves, like Frankenstein walking lunges, Spider-Man mountain climbers, and Mummy plank jacks. Start at 10 reps each, work your way up to 30 reps at the peak of the pyramid, and slide back down to 10. It’s short, punchy, gets your heart rate up, and leaves plenty of time for pumpkin carving afterward!

Fitness should be fun, and Halloween is the absolute best reminder not to take our training goals too seriously all the time. Pick one or two of these festive workouts to sprinkle into your week, grab your favorite cozy brew, and enjoy every spooky step out there!
