weekly recap: 2/7 – 2/13

February 16, 2016      21 Comments

With Mr PugRunner gone most of this week, my runs were more than a little lacking. And to be honest, the high winds weren’t exactly enticing me to get out there and go. I did my best with the time I had, and it ended up being ok.

Sunday – 10 miles

S and I decided that we would each take on 10 miles in our respective neighborhoods at the same time. Only problem was that she chickened out in the wind and I was already a mile in when she told me about it. Boo. But I was out there, and determined to stick it out. I was miserable with the raw wind, but better to have it done than hanging over my head all week.

Monday – body circuit, 60 minutes

I was a little tight for class, but it was a good one, all the same. I got a lot of arm and shoulder work in. I love the burn the comes with it.

Tuesday – rest

Nothing major to report. We had dinner out with friends and little man got the cutest face painting.

Wednesday – 4 miles

When I coming down the stairs to head out for my run, there was a huge bang and the whole house seemed to shake. It almost sounded like a car had grazed the corner of the building. It turned out that the spring on the garage door had snapped. On the plus side, I was home and inside when it happened. The con was that I had to scramble to find house keys and get the door disengaged so it would lose. Mr PugRunner said he would deal with it when he got home that night, so I went about my day.

Starting with a nice four miler.

Mr PugRunner met us at karate and surprised little man. It was nice to have our family reunited.

Thursday – 1.75 miles, Couch to 5K Week 2, Day 1

It was still really windy, but it had warmed up enough that I was able to get little man out for another day of training.

He did great.

Friday – rest

It was a big day. I had to skip body circuit, but it was so very worth it. Little man had his Living Museum presentation at school. I can’t imagine there are many things more adorable than a bunch of second graders in period costumes, rattling off facts about historical figures.

Little man’s character was Paul Revere.

He did an amazing job on his presentation materials and his speech. We were so proud of him and his hard work.

I had to go home to deal with the garage repairman, while Mr PugRunner and Papa Bear headed off on a trip to South Florida for a hockey game.

Little man wanted to celebrate his accomplishments with a Happy Meal, and so we picked up dinner and ate while watching Kung Fu Panda 2 on TV. We both loved it.

Saturday – rest

Saturday was crazy. Little man and I attended a surprise baby shower, and then I had to run some errands with my mom, while helping with the cover up of a big birthday surprise for Papa Bear. I think we were all exhausted (in a good way) by the time everyone got home.

Welp. The Glass Slipper Challenge is in mere days. DAYS. The good news is that it’s going to be so much fun to have a weekend in Disney.

The bad news?

I tweaked my hip flexor when I tripped on something in the garage. It’s not painful, exactly, but it’s complaining. I am grounded from running and working out for the week,m and spending lots of time icing and resting. I’m already pretty cranky about it, but I’m trying to keep the big picture in mind. Hopefully, everything will be ok for the races this weekend, so keep your fingers crossed.

How was your week in workouts?

Any big races coming up on the horizon?

Not only are you a motivational runner, but you are such an awesome mom! I wish more moms would encourage their children to be more physically fit like you do. Take care of the hip flexors and the rest of YOU and I can’t wait to read about the race!

<3 <3 <3 I try so hard to be a good mom. Activity is so important, and I hope that he both enjoys what we are doing, and comes to learn something from it.

I hope this weekend goes well. I had to stop short at the zoo today when some kid almost plowed into me, and it did not feel great. :/

Wow, that garage door spring would have been scary!! I agree the weird weather has made it difficult to get motivated lately. Nice week, though!

My intentions were to make him a costume, but that was available on Amazon Prime for $15, so… it would have been silly not to take advantage. It was super cute on him and he did so great!

Thanks for the well wishes. I hope it will be ok.

Great job getting those 10 miles done – you never regret it when it’s over, right? And your son looks so cute as Paul Revere, you must have been so proud! I hope your hip feels better soon!

I was incredibly proud of him. Public speaking is tough for me and I am so thrilled to see it come so naturally to him.

      Fingers crossed on the hip.

Well, on the bright side, at least you got your 10 miler plus your other runs in before hurting yourself! Ugh… I hope you’re feeling good as new for the Glass Slipper challenge! I’m so excited for your recap!
Little Man makes an awesome Paul Revere. Love the Pokey toy in his display. AND the minion face paint is fantastic.
Quite a week you all had!

I’m sure you can believe that he took actual video of himself with the minion face paint, making all kinds of expressions and mugging for the camera.

I’m looking for the bright side all over the place. Even though I wasn’t planning on really racing or PRing anything this weekend, I wanted to put in a strong effort. I’m aggravated that my goals have had to be adjusted, but grateful that I can still enjoy the weekend with friends at Disney. The course limit is more than generous, so even if I have to walk, I should be ok. Trying hard not to let pride get in the way.

Ha ha – you noticed pokey! He wanted to bring a horse as a prop to signify his Midnight Ride and that’s the only horse we had in the house. It’s from the late 70s or early 80s, so a legit antique. I couldn’t talk him out of it.

It was a beautiful morning that turned quickly into a beautiful day. Sundays are hard because they are immediately followed by Mondays, and Mondays are hard.

Lots to catch up on this week! April is chock full of holidays, birthdays, days off, and events, so let’s get to it!

About this morning… I was up and out early to d About this morning…

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Where did you run or race this weekend?

So good to stretch the legs today. I was super sore after a @runsmartofficial cross training session last night, and needed to just get out there and let the fresh air work its magic.

What are you up to today? I really need to take a moment with my calendar and get some plans locked into place.

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
