March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, but honestly, the lion and lamb are spending a lot of time leapfrogging. It’s the strangest spring, but everything is strange right now, so all we can do is go with it. To be fair, I don’t mind the colder days – it’s a nice respite before summer really kicks in. Let’s dive in.

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.62 miles, walking
I was glad for this Sunday. For some reason, it just felt like it was going to be a nice, restful day, and it was, with a walk for myself and several walks for my client. Our time was winding down, and I was taking all the time in the world with her.

Monday
- Cardio: 4.88 miles, walking
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I didn’t get out until a little later, so I skipped my run in favor of a walk on my own on the trails, as well as some dog walks. It was the most blustery, windy day! I put my sweatshirt back on right after this photo, but I wanted to show off my Irish green.

We didn’t have any plans, but Mr PugRunner decided he did want to do something to celebrate the day after all. Fine by me. We met at a really fun Irish restaurant near one of my clients. We had to sit outside in order to get a table, which was ok (even if it was windy), but we had beer, and bagpipes, and it was great. A came with us, and we ran into his 4th grade teacher! She remembered us, and it was so funny to see how he towers over her now!

Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.56 miles, running + .43 miles, walking
After a wonderful night in my own bed, it was time to move to my last house and clients of this streak. I had a somewhat leisurely morning, and J even joined me for some miles! I think one of my favorite parts of this gig is getting to run in new places.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 3.36 miles, running
It’s been so cold, but the skies are so blue, and I can’t get enough.

Nothing much to report. I spent the day working (both professionally and pet-ly). I had time with another new client so that added an extra (adorable) stop to my day.
Thursday
- Cardio: 4.88 miles, running
I was short on time, so I did my best to make the most of it. You know I don’t often get this woodsy feel, so I was all in. And at least the trees cut some of the wind.

In fun news, A went tubing in the spring with his girlfriend and her family – they had a fabulous day and even saw a manatee! I’m so jealous!
Friday
- Cardio: 4.43 miles, running + .28 miles, walking
This should have been the most glorious run but it was not. I was cold from the crazy wind and felt sluggish. Boo. I’m sure part of it had to do with the fact that I’m not getting super consistent sleep, but that’s ok. At least it was sunny.

Saturday
- Cardio: 4 miles, walking
I got some last minute walking clients today, so that will boost my Saturday numbers a bit. Between myself, the pugs, and a golden retriever, it was good to get the miles.

Other than that, a calm and relaxing day. I’ve needed that for sure.
Thoughts + Goals
Confession. Plans are being made. If you know anything about me, you know I like to have a path forward. It doesn’t have to be a huge path or an important one, but it does have to have a trajectory. I realize I’ve been incredibly stagnant and now I need to see some forward motion.
This week, I return to the gym. My morning flexibility stretches are great, but I am ready to lift some things again. It will be humbling for sure.
Also this week, I am going to be batch cooking. We realized over the last few weeks of my being gone that it’s not super easy to keep on top of meals. I’m not always comfortable cooking in someone else’s home, I don’t always have time to go home to cook in mine, and so that leads us down a rabbit hole of convenience and take out (which is fine, but gets expensive). To combat this, I’ve put together a list of things that can be cooked ahead and frozen in smaller batches so that when I am out of the house, we can still get good food with little fuss. Stay tuned on how that works out.
In Case You Missed It
Has the weather continued to swing up and down in your area? How is affecting your running? Do you do batch cooking? Any recommendations for recipes?
Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

I like to batch cook IOW cook several meals on Sunday so I don’t have to cook during the week . However it doesn’t always happen esp when I am away on the week end.
I’m always impressed by how many miles you put in during the week. I am a slacker lately.
The weather here is spring one day and winter the next and so much wind!!
I am sure my miles will reduce once it gets warmer. Also, having several dog walks a day helps boost that number. Some of my clients are good for a mile or more!
I always fin doing some batch cooking and meal prep is a huge help for me. I love how you get outside everyday!
I don’t enjoy meal prep at all, but maybe the batch cooking will be easier and more productive.
You’ll have to give a full report on your batch cooking. I’ve never been able to pull it off, and I’m always looking for ways to make weeknights a little easier. Our weather has definitely been fluctuating, but is much milder than yours. We had a few nights down to the 50s this week which felt amazing.
Your St Patrick’s Day celebration sounds really fun. Is that a green beer? I haven’t had a green beer in ages!
It will be helpful to have my mom there.
It wasn’t a green beer – they only had Harp’s in green, and I’m a Bud Light/Mich Ultra lady. Beer isn’t my favorite lol.
all the sunshine…so jealous! The St. Patrick’s day beers wtih bagpipes sounds so festive and fun!
It was a nice day.
It’s good you get some business going! And getting all that walking done with beautiful sunshine… what bliss.
Good to hear you’re getting back to the gym! I miss it after only 3 days, haha!
I’m really excited about what I’ve accomplished this month. Now I need to start actively promoting!
I’ve never tried the batch cooking thing. I tend to have a lot of leftovers these days, though, and I usually freeze a lot of those in individual portions. Our weather was really up & down last week!
As a family, we don’t love leftovers, and there’s usually only enough for one meal – In fact, I had to have a convo with Mr PugRunner because he made a huge casserole and then didn’t want to eat or freeze the leftovers. No, sir. We need to eat that. Sigh.
OH boy, if you can share your batch cooking tips and successes, i’d love to hear that! I am definitely in need of new meals and ways to make hectic weeknights with sports, etc. easier! It was 20 degrees when I woke up this morning so definitely COLD and not lamb-like. Nice job at the gym this week!
We will see how it goes!
I don’t batch cook but I am a meal planner; I don’t like going to the store or having to decide every day what we’re having for dinner. It helps me stay on track with healthy eating too. I’ll be curious to hear how your batch cooking works out!
I’m not even going to discuss our weather–windy, rainy, cold–mmmkay?
I despise meal planning – I’m all about deciding on the fly what I’m in the mood to eat, but that’s just not sustainable. I figure if I do it this way, we have a variety and if we freeze it in small quantities it’s not like we have to have all the leftovers at once. We will see.
