Friends, I am absolutely locked in right now. Seriously. After some sweltering days, we had absolutely incredible weather. Blue skies, fluffy clouds, bunnies in meadows… it’s so perfect you wouldn’t believe we are one week into hurricane season. Here we go again, friends! I really haven’t heard much about whether it will be an active few months or not, but I guess we’ll find out! So how was the week? Let’s get into it!

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.43 miles, walking
We start the last day of May finishing up with some clients and starting with others. It was an early morning, and the pup I’m staying with now LOVES sleeping in. It’s tough with the days heating up so fast, but we are making it work.
On the plus side, I got to break in my new Adrenalines, and I got to see a very curious baby deer! What a day!

Monday
- Cardio: 5.77 miles, running
- Strength: Resistance Band Workout, 20 minutes
Happy June! And happy first day of Streaking With The Cool Kids! At least one intentional, uninterrupted mile per day for 30 days! Let’s do it! Also, look how close I got to this bunny!

I spend the day with all my clients, and had an absolute wonderful time. Oh, and I did a great strength workout with my bands! We are getting things done!
Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.14 miles, running
- Strength: Resistance Band Workout, 30 minutes
Oooh boy, it’s hot out there. By the time it hits 9AM, it’s almost unbearable to be outside. I’m not a fan. I had my run, and then worked on my bands for strength.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 6 miles, walking
- Strength: Resistance Band Workout, 20 minutes
Ah, finally! A gorgeous morning with perfect temperatures, and gorgeous views.

Thursday
- Cardio: 5.88 miles, running
- Strength: Resistance Band Workout, 20 minutes
I am loving this weather so much and I wish it would continue through the summer! How do we make that happen? It was a great run. I was absolutely locked in on the day. In fact, I was so absorbed that I almost bulldozed right into a grazing deer. She was absolutely unbothered, so we all just continued on our respective ways.

I also did another workout with myd resistance bands. Since I can’t get to the gym right now, it’s a great way to get in my stregnth training. And I’ve been consistent!
Friday
- Cardio: 5.27 miles, running
TGIF! It was a great morning for a run! I also loved seeing the frolicking deer!

I followed it all up with my 6 month check up at the dentist. As always, I was an anxious wreck, and they were just lovely about it. Another year cavity-free, but the dentist did say it looks like I’ve been clenching my jaw or grinding my teeth. I mean…. have you seen the state of the world? But anyway, I’m being good and getting an estimate for a night guard.
And Happy National Doughnut Day! I haven’t had anything decadent in what feels like ages, but I absolutely wanted to try the new Banana Pudding flavor at Parlor Doughnuts. It was the perfect way to celebrate!

Saturday
- Cardio: 4.9 miles, walking
- Strength: Resistance Band Workout, 20 minutes
And here we are. Another weekend!

And then we went to see Masters Of The Universe. I confess that I was a HUGE fan of She-Ra when I was a kid, and He-Man by association. I have been watching the trailers and reviews with great consideration and finally decided that I wanted to go to the theater! It was better than I had hoped!
Thoughts + Goals
I’m feeling motivated this week. As I promised myself, I’ve been tracking my nutrition and I’ve been very mindful of my caffeine, sugar, and fiber. I’m not necessarily seeing (or feeling) any changes, but that’s ok. I’m keeping my eyes on the prize, which is overall betterment of my own personal health.
First, I’ve really been loving my new fits from Constantly Varied Gear (save 15% with my affiliate link). They have great, squat-proof leggings, but I’m really digging their bras and Daydream shorts. Usually, I don’t go for compression under my shorts (or by themselves as shorts), but these are comfortable, with a great waistband, and they don’t roll up. Plus, the patterns are too cute! They just dropped all their 4th of July looks, if you’re looking for some great red, white, and blue.

Interestingly… I started mouth taping at night. If you haven’t seen this, it’s a piece of lip-shaped tape (kind of like KT tape), that you put over your mouth at night to keep it closed. There’s a little slit in the middle to allow for breathing so no risk of suffocating. Benefits are supposed to include improved breathing through the nose, better sleep quality, and even keeping the jawline “snatched.” I figured no harm, no foul. Sleep is fine. And I’ve noticed I’m breathing more through my nose, even during the day. So all good things!

How was your week in training? Any close animal run-ins? Have you heard of/do you practice mouth-taping?
Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

Oh I am a big mouth breather at night, and on my runs- are you looking the tape and finding it helps your sleep? It can be hard to stay motivated if you’re making changes but not seeing changes- hang in there! You seem to have good attitude about it all. What are you using to track?
I’ve been sleeping mostly fine. I just wondered if if would help improve the efficiency of my breathing and maybe give me more oxygen overall. Plus, i don’t want to snore lol! I notice that I’m keeping my mouth closed more during the day, so maybe I’ve just retrained myself a little.
Glad to read that you had a fantastic week. You seem really happy! Changes do take a while to really see but are worth it
Sounds like a great week! You’re in the zone 🙂 And it seems like you’ve found a great, consistent way to get strength training in.
So I’m a huge grinder and clencher and have been using a night guard for year. It’s definitely saving my teeth. I’ve never tried the mouth tape, but my son has! He’s a mouth breather. I’ll have to ask him if he’s still using it.
Ask him! It’s crazy that I notice a difference in my mouth breathing during the day just from about a week of taping!
I’m so glad for you about the pleasant weather! Also, great work with the resistance bands. Resistance band workouts are so underrated, they can be tough!
I’ve been very big on grinding my teeth in the past, and used a night guard for quite a few years. Despite this I still cracked one of my teeth over and over again – I think this was mostly because I used to grind my teeth also during the day and obviously couldn’t use the thing during the day. Now it seems to be much improved or at least that’s my impression.
I’m glad it improved. I just don’t see how anyone ISN’T clenching their jaw right now! Ridiculous!
I’m also in the night guard gang. Did they suggest one for you? It was weird at first but now I’m not sure I could sleep without it! Hmmm, I have never heard of mouth taping. I had a HUGE sleep changer in the past month – I’m taking HRT pills. WOW. I have had amazing sleep with no night sweats. I wish I would have tried it years ago.
So my dentist office is incredibly bougie (not my fault – I started with them when they were in a strip mall, and now they have their own building that looks like something out of an architecture magazine), and I have to meet with the procedure consultant or something like that. I was in a rush and I said “can I just get a price.” and they were all like “no, you have to meet with this person.” In the special, all glass conference room. So I will figure out next steps when I have the time lol.
I haven’t had night sweats or wakeups in a while, so that makes me happy. I just figured I could do better with more nose breathing.
I have never heard of mouth taping, but I’m sure I’d hate it, lol! I had a night guard for clenching, but I absolutely hated it–it made me drool. I stopped wearing it, and my teeth have been fine. I also bought one from AIRWAAV–a guy at the gym uses one for strength training–, but it didn’t fit right since I don’t have my back molar anymore.
I’m glad you had a great week with good weather! And yay for the deer sightings. We can always use more deer in our lives.
I don’t think I would mind a mouth guard. I would absolutely mind a cracked tooth lol!
The deer are the best. I’m going to miss them: especially the mama with her 3 babies!
Glad to hear that the changes you’re making are sticking and I suspect that you’ll start feeling a difference soon. I’m glad to hear that you’ve found an alternative to working out at the gym since it’s so hard for you to fit it in with your busy work schedule. Keep up the good work!
I do “miss” the gym, but I have to meet the workouts where I am.
Nope never heard of mouth taping. Sounds awful IMO. But if it works…
I don’t if I sleep with my mouth open but I think I run with it open. Though I leaned that when you do easy runs, breathe through your nose and faster ones through your mouth. Truthfully, I just get it done.
Kudos on another great week of activity. GL with your streak.
LOL! It’s not bad. It’s lightweight and stretchy, so it doesn’t feel too constrictive. I don’t know. I’ve been looking at the tapes in teh store and finally just tried. I may not make it past the 30 day supply.
Looks like you had some decent Florida weather! Nice job with the bands. They’re certainly a great alternative to weights or machines!
It’s been a great addition to the lineup.
