2021 is proving to be another “interesting” year, but I plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day in all the ways! Festivities make me happy and I think we can use all the happiness we can get!
Valentine’s Day isn’t my favorite holiday, by a long shot, but this year, I plan on making the most of every special moment, so I am going all in on the hearts and candy and flowers.
Register for a themed race or take part in a festive workout.
Nothing makes the holidays feel like the holidays than a themed race. I’m super fortunate to have an in-person race on February 13 (Galentine’s Day!), but if that’s not possible for you, there are plenty of virtual options from which to choose! I love the tank and medal for the Love 2 Run from Gone For A Run!
Treat yourself to a manicure.
I’ve embraced the home manicure since discovering Color Street (NOT an affiliate link, I just love these polish strips, and order them here). To be honest, I can’t imagine a time when I will go back to professional manicures, when these are so cute and easy and quick. I spent a few minutes upgrading my nails to this scarlet glitter (Chile It Cool), perfect for February 14th.
Remember Galentine’s Day!
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, you don’t have to be in a relationship. Galentine’s Day is a fabulous way to honor your lady friends, Leslie Knope style. What’s Galentine’s Day?
“Oh it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
So, we may not be able to get together for big parties with all our gal-pals, but maybe we can enjoy waffles with all the toppings, while Zooming with our ladies. If we can do anything, it’s adapt.
Spread the love.
One of the best things in the world is bringing joy to others. This year, I hope to share some of that with some of my most beautiful girlfriends, especially if I can’t see them in person. Try delivering some glittery champagne bottles, with stroopwaffels (a nod to Galentine’s), and a sweet note to your friends. Just because we can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day together, doesn’t mean we should skip celebrating entirely.
Take care of you.
Now, let’s not forget that you are also deserving some self-love on February 14, and everyday. I think it’s fair to say we’ve all been working hard and under a lot of stress, so let’s take the steps to take better care of us. Maybe start with a new skincare regimen: find your FRÉ Skincare Valentine with this simple quiz, and save 35% on your order (affiliate link). Use code JENNL at checkout and save an additional 10%! Your future self will thank you.
Enjoy a special meal.
I love to celebrate Valentine’s Day’s with a special meal, although very rarely do I want to eat out. Even though our restaurants are open, we are opting to stay in this year. We may support local with takeout, but I am thinking about putting together a yummy fondue dinner for us, instead. We can get to-go another night when things are a little less hectic.
How do you plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year? How will you make things special, or do you skip the day altogether?
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Nope. Not a biggie in my world.
I’ll be running a half marathon. The hubby will be home.
Last year I was in Bermuda.
Glad you make the most of it. Enjoy.
