And here we are in October, setting goals for the end of the year, and getting ready for what’s to come. It’s been … a year. And that’s all I can really say about that. We can only control what we can control, so I’m turning to the last few months of the year, to talk about setting goals, and sticking to them.
I Plan To Finish The Year Strong
Honestly, this goal shows up in a lot of ways. It means getting my mileage back up to the double digits. Another way it presents itself is in getting back to the racing scene in a big and fun way. I miss that social aspect of my life. Last, but not least, it means feeling like I’m in charge of my running and my fitness, rather than the other way around.
Sticking To My Gym Workouts Is Non-Negotiable
I’ve been at the YMCA for 13 days of workouts. Am I seeing huge changes? Not yet. But there are baby muscles forming in my arms and legs. I’m bumping up my assigned weights because my starting numbers feel easy. Most importantly, I feel better about myself. I’m too far to stop now.
I’m Adding States To My Race Roster
Over the years, I had a loose goal of running a race in all 50 states. Due to things way outside my control, this dream becomes looser every day. However, through chance, it seems I will be adding two new states to my list! This is a huge motivator for me and I cannot wait to complete the distances and add to my tally!
It’s Time To Get Organized
My mental clutter is out of control. I’m getting through my day to day, but not in any kind of efficient or organized way. Treading water gets exhausting and I can’t do it forever, so I need to take the steps to get myself on track. I have a business that I started but let fall off when Mr. PugRunner got sick, that I’d really love to revive. Mostly, I need a system for scheduling my social media work, and I am super open to suggestions.
Reading Needs To Make A Comeback
I was reading like a boss at the beginning of this year, but again, with the chaos, it dropped off my radar. Now I’m back and I’m devouring books again (in fact, I just finished “Yellowface” by R. F. Kuang in two days). I’m moving on to some Alice Hoffman for spooky season (thanks for the encouragement, Carianne). And I really, really need to prioritize book club. It’s something that’s been missing from my life and I need to make it happen.

Love these goals.
Which states? I don’t travel. Wish I could.
Yes. On the gym. And yes. Finish strong.
Since my year started so badly I will. Lol

Alabama and South Carolina! Not too far but hey, they count!

Great goals! Love your commitment to sticking with the strength training – it will be worth it.
I’ve just dived back into reading too – after a strong start at the beginning of the year things kinda slid by mid-year.
You’ve had a lot to navigate this year – I hope that you’re able to get back on top of things the way you want to. You’ve got this!

I’ve got a little PTSD creeping back. This is when things really started to spiral last year, and I am teetering between embracing everything and being scared that something awful will happen. trying to stay positive for sure!

These are some great goals. I took two weeks off from strength for an angry hammy and the Chicago Marathon. Need to get back to it!
I love to run in new places and to read!

These are all great goals! How fun that you’re going to run in two different states! Have you run in IL? Come to Chicago.
