I have to give credit to Michelle at Running With Attitude for this 2024 Ins + Outs list! Ins and outs are the new New Year’s Resolution, and I think it’s a really great way to set some goals, manage expectations and keep everything on the right track.
IN For 2024
This year, my Running Ins include:
- more racecations
- another half marathon
- productive training
- running a 5K with no walk breaks
- more ParkRuns
OUT For 2024
And what’s out?
- self-doubt
- running anxiety
- avoiding recovery like stretches and rest days
- not replacing gear in a timely fashion
So that’s it! Easy peasy!
What are your running ins and outs for the year?

Running a 5k with no walk breaks sounds like a great goal!
It’s something that you can train for and is easy to measure and then to celebrate!
My running “in” this year are a massage therapist and a chiropractor. I’m enjoying it!
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Love this! I’m so excited for you that you have been running with less walk breaks. Can’t wait to see you crush your 5k this year!

I had fun doing an In and Out list as well. It’s a fun way to set some intentions. Looks like you are off to a great start this year. Honoring those rest days and stretches are key for me
Jenny says
In and Out lists are fun! i haven’t officially done one, but my “ins” would include strength training, more sleep, stretching and mobility. “Outs” would definitely include comparing myself to my former running self- I still struggle with this, sigh.
runswithpugs says
Oh, no comparisons! Be kind to yourself and honor yourself where you are at!

Love this idea of an In & Out List and I love what you have chosen for both lists! I am trying to get better about rest days too. I know it is good for me, but still hard to do!

I am a terrible person when I don’t work out, even if it’s just a walk.
Michelle says
Great lists! I’m so with you on avoiding recovery and rest days – a definite out!
runswithpugs says
Thank you for the idea!

I love this… I need to add this topic.
Yours are perfect.

out – injuries

Absolutely out with injuries!
