Yes, I know, it JUST turned August, but for Floridian parents, summer is just about over. We start back to school in one week, and I am just stunned. But that’s how it goes, I guess.
Sunday
- Cardio: 5.73 miles, walking
- Strength: Wall Pilates, 20 minutes
Once again, I was looking forward to a quiet day. I walked, did my wall pilates, and hopped into some work.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.51 miles, running + walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes, Wall Pilates, 20 minutes
I started Monday HARD. I was able to push through some miles that felt pretty good, and that made me happy. I followed it up with some time in the gym, and my last day of wall pilates for the week.
Band camp started up for the second week, and we had a lot to navigate with the two a days. While I hated the interrupted days, it did work really well for the band, so I guess that’s that.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 6.66 miles, running + walking
I know. I don’t want to talk about how that happened.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.05 miles, running + walking
Why, yes. I did take myself to the beach for my morning miles, thanks for asking. I needed some Vitamin Sea and salty air.
From there, I treated myself to some donuts for a Yelp week, and they were the perfect breakfast for the morning.
When I got home, I dove into the bathroom reno. I mean. Since I was already a sweaty mess. I love the color I picked out (Brook Green, by Behr – it’s a dupe for SW Sea Salt) to replace that yellow, and I am so happy with the new mirror. I have a shelving unit and light fixture coming as well, and I will get some art up on the walls, too. A likes the color so I will repaint his bathroom as well.
Thursday
- Cardio: 8.58 miles, running + walking
Up and at ’em again. It was my one day kind of to myself, and I was pretty happy about that. Of course, it started with lots and lots of miles.
And ended with the band’s community show, where they showcase everything they learned during band camp. It was a rough two weeks weather wise, but the kids did amazing. They performed seven fully choreographed minutes of their show and looked and sounded incredible. This was on the heels of being dismissed from morning session early due to heat advisories. No photos, but it’s going to be one heck of a season.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.98 miles, running + walking
Guess what? It was stupid hot again. Sigh.
It was a scramble kind of day. First, we went to a morning movie: Deadpool & Wolverine. The truth is it was an awful movie, but it was also hilarious, so I didn’t mind.
And then we came home, showered, changed, and went to the Straight No Chaser concert. I had won ticket earlier in the week, and was pretty stoked for the show, even if it was outside at The Amp. The opening act was O-Town with Chris Kirkpatrick of ‘N Sync fame, and both groups were fantastic. I sang along almost the whole show! I’m used to the SNC holiday music, but they did an entire 90s setlist, and it was so great.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.92 miles, walking
Was it an epic mistake to sleep in? Sure was! It was so freaking hot by the time I started my walk. I kept to the shade as much as I could, but yuck.
The rest of the day was dedicated to hanging out. Sometimes, that’s all you need.
Thoughts + Goals
We are playing this week by ear. TS Debby is threatening to become a pretty nasty hurricane, and we just aren’t sure where she is going to strike. The water is so hot that it’s easy for hurricanes to whip up into pretty powerful storms, so we are keeping an eye on it.
All the rest of our weekend plans were canceled, so I’m hoping we can still have a nice week.

Your bathroom redo looks so nice! We have 3 bathrooms well overdue for a makeover. It’s just something I’m not good at–I need guidance!
Nice work on getting those runs in with this heat!

I would love to visit and help you out lol!

Seriously impressed that you painted your bathroom alone. That is above my ability level for sure. Way to get those runs and walks in with that heat. Can’t believe school starts so early for you all!

Your bathroom looks great!! I love the old yellow colour, but the new looks calmer.
You’ve done some impressive running this week! What a lovely beach. That must be so good for the soul running there!
Stay safe with the hurricane. It sounds really scary to me.

Nooooo I’m not ready to say bye bye bye to summer! But i know it’s different where you are – hopefully the weather gets better for you soon. That beach run looks fun. We have a Peace Love and Little Donuts here too — too funny! I didn’t realize they were all over the country.

I always feel bad for the kids who are practicing for band and sports already in this heat. I would never make it! But there are so many fun school things to look forward to, you’ll be in the thick of it soon. Hang on tight! I hope the storms don’t hit you. Stay safe!

i know- our school starts on the 12th. Summer is practically OVER, sob! Those two a day band rehearsals sound… annoying. I get why they did it, but I wouldn’t be a fan.
Nice job getting your workouts in! I’ll have to check on Debbie- I felt like we were driving out of Florida just as the weather started to get bad. I hope it doesn’t turn into anything big.

Nice re-do for the bathroom! I’m eager to get some real color on the walls in my new place. I’ve tried to embrace the neutral thing, but it’s just not me. Beige is boring, LOL!
