Here we go: twas the week before Christmas and it was time to get things DONE! It’s always such a busy time of year, but to be honest, this is kind of where I thrive. How are we pushing through? Let’s dive in!
Sunday
- Cardio: 4.43 miles, walking
Good morning and happy Sunday! I walked myself, and the pugs. As you can see, someone got really tuckered out by all his activity.
We took advantage of a day without plans by chilling on the couch. A, on the other hand, was invited to a wedding with his girlfriend! These two have all the fun.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.18 miles, running + .72 miles, walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
I really wanted to go hard this Monday. It was the last week of school before break, and I wanted the week to start right.
The big news was that A had his opthamologist follow up and we are pleased to report that his eye is fine after his oil accident. They will see him one more time in March to give the final all clear. We are so grateful it wasn’t worse.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 7.51 miles, running + .33 miles, walking
As you can see, it’s warming up again. Ugh. I’m over it. Despite the heat, I used this opportunity to get in some speed work before meeting up with J for our miles.
I hurried to shower and have breakfast, so I could get in a client meeting. It was incredibly productive and their new project is off to a great start.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.66 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
I like having Wednesday as a little bit of a rest day. Instead of running, I spend my morning walking. As you can see, the weather has no idea of what’s going on. This was humid, drizzly fog out of nowhere. Gross.
I also headed over to the gym to do some lower body. The squats and lunges have been doing a number on me, but what can you do?
We had some fun in store when a big group of my PTSO mom friends all went to a bingo fundraiser. We didn’t win anything, but it was an easy, low-key night, and we loved it.
Thursday
- Cardio: 7.09 miles, running
Things were moving faster now. The morning started with a lovely run, followed by brunch with The Breakfast Club. We haven’t seen each other in ages, and this was so perfect. We committed to a new mantra “Embrace the good and lead with joy” and promised that we would get together way more regularly. This was so filling for my soul.
I got my nails done, and then we had our last book club of the season. It’s been so wonderful finding these ladies, and we had a great night!
Friday
- Cardio: 6.20 miles, running
TGIF! Even after a night out, J and I got up and out. Also, Leonidas was not happy with the whole up and about situation. He’s such a little mush.
I spent the day running errands and catching up on things, and that evening, we went to a Cocoa and Cookies party with J and her husband. I made a frosting board with buttercream, cream cheese, whipped cream and chocolate frostings. It was amazing.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.32 miles, walking
Saturday arrived! Along with Winter Solstice! Huzzah!
I made the most amazing lasagna soup for dinner and I did a lot of reading. I slacked a lot this year and I want to be on top of my game in 2025.
Thoughts + Goals
Welcome to the last two weeks of the year. Honestly, 2024 was not what I hope for in so many ways. It’s a little frustrating to plan for the greatest of things and have the universe comes in with opposing plans, but it is what it is.
For now, I’m going to finish up wrapping and celebrating and try to focus on all the good things. This is what I can control, so this is what I’m going to do.

They are so sleepy in the colder weather! and they are obsessed with my soft blanket.
Squats and lunges are so painful on my toes. Sigh. Hopefully it gets better if I keep at it.
Merry Christmas to you as well!

Way to get it all in! This is such a busy time but I always make sure to get my workouts done before I tackle everything else. It all seems to come together, doesn’t it?
Leonidas’ face!!! Cocoa is very expressive as well and it always cracks me up!
runswithpugs says
We do need more Cocoa! She’s so cute!
And yes, it does. I have some wrapping to do and a little bit of cooking but it will all work.

You do always have so much fun with all the social events every week! We cannot control the bad stuff the universe throws at us we can only embrace the good stuff more! Have a really fun week ahead and merry Christmas to you and yours.
runswithpugs says
Sigh. We cannot. But that’s why we embrace the good and lead with joy!
I hope you enjoy the rest of our trip and Happy holidays!

A frosting board!!!!! How cool is that. It looks so cute (and delicious.)
Your pugs are so precious, and their faces are hilarious. Sounds like you had a great week, with lots of fun, workouts, and once again a trip to the gym!
I’ll bet it’s cold up there this weekend- it’s 50 here this morning!
runswithpugs says
It was fun to make! And the pugs are too funny. They love snuggling up in the weather. It was in the 30s this morning!
Two trips to the gym! I was pushing it!

I am always so impressed with how you fit in workouts, running and fun.
If I have fun but then nothing else. LOL
Merry Christmas.
runswithpugs says
I think it’s just adrenaline and caffeine!
Happy holidays!

An icing board? So I’m guessing the snowman is just icing and you dip the cookies in it? OMG, that’s genius!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
runswithpugs says
Yup! We used chocolate, whipped cream, cream cheese and buttercream frostings. And then you just dip and eat. It would be super fun for a bigger party! Merry Christmas!
Coco says
LOL on taking yourself for a walk. With my husband retiring soon he’s offered to take over Scooby’s morning walks, but I kind of like starting my day ambling in the fresh air with Scooby!
Have a very Merry Christmas!

Mr PugRunner took the pugs for a walk the other day and I was so lost! Merry Christmas!
Liz Dexter says
What a busy time! We’re having a quiet Christmas and actually managed to do all our food shopping and home again in record time as there was no one in the supermarket. Hope this week is lovely for you and your family and the dogs x
runswithpugs says
Oh, that’s amazing! I won’t go near the grocery store right now! It’s too hectic! Merry Christmas! I hope it’s lovely!

“Embrace the good and lead with joy” is a great mantra and mindset! I love the idea of a frosting board! Looks creative and yummy 😉
runswithpugs says
The fun part is that you have to say it loudly and aggressively!
The frosting board was fun!
