Do I know for a fact that March is going to be luck? Nope. But I have to hold out hope, because otherwise, i’m going to cry. That’s all there is to it.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.25 miles, walking
Who was exhausted after a weekend of slinging mulch? This girl right here. It was all I could do to drag myself outside to get my dose of Vitamin D.

I think I made the move directly to the couch after I showered and ate breakfast. The weekend really did me in.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.94 miles, running + 2.48 miles, walking
The day started with a lovely run.

I was really behind on some work, so I forced myself to focus. Also on my agenda were two dog walks, not including the pugs’ regular constitutional. It’s so cool that I can add miles and fitness to my job! Whoo hoo!
Tuesday
- Cardio: 6.08 miles, running + 1.73 miles, walking
Do you ever see messages in the clouds? Sometimes we have to create our own. Another great run, too.

The day warmed up quickly so I still got in all my dog walking, but we had to cut it a little short for safety. And I had a meeting with one of my favorite clients with lots of fun things ahead.
In the evening, I had my last Scout meeting as a Committee Chair, and that was great. I still have some transition work to do but it feels good to leave on a high note.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5 miles, walking
Time for just a little bit of a break. The body needs rest sometimes.

Of course, to make up for it, I decided to put together this Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Crumb Loaf Cake. Say that fast five times. I LOVE crumb cake but it’s so hard to find it the way I enjoyed it growing up. The crumb topping on this recipe hits the closest I’ve had and I loved it so much. However, I think I would have happily doubled the crumb topping and halved the cake recipe for a more perfect ratio. The recipe also called for mini chips but I had to use what I had.

Thursday
- Cardio: 6.30 miles, running + .55 miles, walking
It was pretty chilly out that morning, but that was ok. The pugs especially appreciated it.

I was so grateful to have coffee with a dear friend.

Friday
- Cardio: 5.5 miles, running + .73 miles, walking
TGIF! I ended up sleeping in just a bit more than usual. Friends, I have been so tired. But I still got out there.

And then I got myself together, packed a bag, and headed out for my weekend job. I’ll be staying at my clients’ house but I am still close enough to home to be able to pop in to see my family, so it all works out.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.26 miles, walking
It was nice to have a change of scenery for this morning’s walk!

A took his SAT this morning and he had his ACT last week. He’s not a fan of the standardized tests (who is, really), so I hope they go well for him.
And then just work and reading.
Thoughts + Goals
Wild that there isn’t a single gym day. I really want to get back to strength, but the truth is I am just out of hours in my days right now. Also, the extra walking is making me tired, and on some days, even sore.
I’m debating getting a weighted vest to bring some additional resistance to my workouts, but I have to figure out where to get it as I’m not shopping on Amazon at the moment. UPDATE: I asked for one on my Buy Nothing page, so fingers crossed someone has one to offer up!
On a personal note, Marching Band has started up again. A attended leadership camp last week and this week, we have our first meeting of the season, where we find out the name of the show and all the fun details. I can’t believe this is our last year!

Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

I’d really like some luck! Every time I get up to 5 or 6 miles, something happens, this time a bit of a sore Achilles but I’ve heard so many horror stories I’m being really careful with it. Hope you get some nice times in the next few weeks.
Oh, I hate that for you! I hope you can get a handle on it!
Hope your pet sitting gig went well. I am a proponent of the weighted vest and would be happy to share my recs. Hope your next week goes well
Please send them over! I have been watching so many people use them.
I think we all need a little luck right now! I hope you find yours!
Good luck to your son on his placement tests1 And enjoy marching band season.
He just found out that he is clarinet section leader AND woodwind captain! If there’s one thing that boy loves, it’s leadership roles, so he is off to a great start!
Nice miles this week! And that crumb cake looks yummy!!! Hopefully March is a great month for you.
Hope it’s great for all of us. I could really use a big ol’ slab of cake right now.
Alright, I’m with you- March is going to be a lucky month! I can’t believe marching band is starting up ALREADY for A!!! We don’t even think about marching again till band camp in July.
I know what you mean- sometimes it just feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day. We do what we can! You got in some nice running and walking miles this week.
We have our intro meeting on Tuesday where we will find out the name of the new show, the music, the costume, etc. A just found out that he is clarinet section leader AND woodwind captain. Minicamp will start the week after Spring Break (they start practicing after school with the rising 8th graders). And then summer camp is in mid July. It’s going to be amazing!
Hope this is a better week for you! I’ve done just that, doubled the crumb topping on coffee cakes (didn’t halve the cake part, though)! 🙂
When I was growing up, we would get crumb cake from the bakery. And when I tell you, the cake was literally just a vehicle to hold the crumb together, and it was the most glorious thing. The crumb would be at least 2″ thick, and so good with just about 1″ or less of cake underneath. So good.
oh, that crumb cake looks nice! I have never attempted to make one, but sounds like you were successful in your venture. I’m considering getting a weighted vest as well…I’m looking at you, Deborah, LOL.
I never did either, but I was all about this! And it was good.
Haha! Deborah is starting a trend!
Heading into the last year of marching band? It’s going to be a big one I’m sure. Does A want to stay close to home for college or thinking of a college farther away?
That cake looks delish! I love coffee cake.
He is pretty set on Orlando, so that’s about 2 hours (UCF or Valencia with a transfer to UCF). He has never wanted to be more than 2-3 hours away which limits us quite a bit. I was hoping he would look at FAU because it’s right by my college roommate, but this is what he wants. UNF is also on his list if he feels he wants to stay close, but he wants to live on campus, which is fine.
He was just selected as Clarinet Section Leader and Woodwinds Captain. We are so proud.
