week 52: and that’s a wrap

December 26, 2021      24 Comments

This is it. The last week of 2021. We have Christmas, and New Year’s and that’s it. Oh, Mr PugRunner’s birthday is January 1, so the party continues.

Sunday – 4.11 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas

Sunday was just an average day. I had a nice morning walk in my new Bucee’s shorts.

We got to bring it weights for the seven tricep kickbacks, and that mixed up Fitmas just enough.

Afterwards, I worked on baking cookies for the upcoming festivities.

Monday – 3.75 miles, bridge repeats + 12 Days of Fitmas

The week started at a run, almost literally. I thought the beach would be beautiful, but it was absolutely not. I didn’t get much farther than 3.75 miles cause oof the wind on the bridge. I couldn’t even go very far on the sand due to the tide.

Fitmas called for standing side crunches, eight to be exact. Those were fun.

I had a nail appointment and I am in love with this black, mixed texture look.

And then I had a last minute appointment for my booster. From there, I did a bit more shopping, and then came home too get some rest.

Tuesday – 4.31 miles, running

Who had a booster hangover? This girl. I woke up feeling ok, and even got out to run, despite the wind and rain, but I felt like crap the entire time.

I didn’t even do my 12 Days of Fitmas. I got in the shower, and then went directly to bed. It took two solid naps, and some food and drink to get back to myself again. Ugh. Luna was an amazing nurse.

Wednesday – 3.38 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas

By Wednesday, I was back in business. I walked.

And then I caught up with nine jump squats and ten single lead romanian dead lifts. Whew. Those were tough.

I made the boys a breakfast board, and then took them out for mini golf and lunch, before heading out to complete some shopping.

Thursday – 7.41 miles, running + .49 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas

It was a good day for a run, nice and cool. I was feeling better, but not 100%. Enough for a “long” run of sorts, though.

Day 11 of the 12 days called for eleven bicep curls. Easy peasy.

And then the rails fell off, a little. I went to grab coffee and my mom’s gift, and found a bolt in the tire! I still had to go to Trader Joe’s, and we had lunch reservations that I needed to get to, but I had to go home and trade cars with Mr PugRunner. He took the afflicted vehicle to the tire repair place, so I could finish what I had to do.

We got dressed up for our reservation, and enjoyed an amazing time at the Miracle Christmas Pop Up!

I also loved getting to walk around town to see some of the lights. It was the touch of festivity I needed.

Friday – 4.42 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas

I confess to having stalled the last few days, so it was time to get to work. I walked.

The last day of Fitmas called for 12 lunges, in addition to all the other exercises. Done.

And then I made ornaments for an order for my mom, finished cleaning and wrapping, and then we picked up Chinese food to bring to my parents for Christmas Eve. It was a lovely evening.

And then it was home to wait for Santa. Someone was excited.

Saturday – 1 mile, walking

Merry Christmas! I took Luna for a walk, giving me my one mile for my Run Streak. It’s still going strong!

It was an odd day: Mr PugRunner had a bad allergy flare up, and so things were just sort of out of sorts. But we opened gifts, spent some time together, and hosted my parents for dinner.

Little man was super excited with lots of fishing gear and a new mattress and bed frame. Luna loved her new toys. And yes, I got new running shoes, among other things, which I am excited to try out.

Goal-getting

Am I ready for New Year’s? No. Will I get there? Yes.

I will be popping in and out this week. We were supposed to go out of town but that’s been postponed. So now it’s time to figure out fun things to do. I may spend some time working on the blog, to start the year out right. That would be the best use of my time, I think.

There was no way I could run the day after my booster (or even walk). But it was only one day. I probably did better this week with the extra rest.

Love the Pug ornament/inflatable. I think you did a fab job this week. I’m so sorry your travel plans had to get postponed.

Since I had no reaction to the other vaccines, I didn’t really think about it until I was on the road and feeling like poo. Whoops.

I’m pretty bummed about it, but trying to rally.

I was pretty sick after my booster–it lasted 36 hours and poof, it was gone. That was back in August. Believe it or not, I have to get another booster in February because of my RA. I am not looking forward to it.

Looks like nice holidays for you! So much food!

Luna’s sweater is fire! So cute! I feel like I’m the only one who felt NOTHING from the booster. The Caveman felt nothing as well so that makes two of us. I guess my arm was mildly sore but honestly I forgot I even had the shot. My kids get boosted this week so we’ll see how they feel, although they felt nothing when they got the original series of Pfizer vaccines. You are the goddess of cute boards!

I realized the day after Christmas that I should have asked for a charcuterie board for Christmas. I have several huge pewter platters that I have used for antipasto platters for years, but now that it’s cool to do the same type spread with desserts, breakfast foods, etc., I’d love to have a little variety to serve from. I made my first dessert board last night, channeling my inner Jenn. 😉

Have a great week and Happy New Year!

We always did Chinese for Xmas eve too, but in more recent years we now do it on the 23rd (Festivus!) to accommodate my sister-in-laws traditions. Never a bad time for Chinese food though!
Sounds like you had a nice low key holiday!
