I had a pretty challenging cake request this past weekend.
It was supposed to be a bass guitar.
It was for a girl’s birthday and therefore needed to be “blinged out.”
And it was supposed to be made without any red food dye.
I learned a very interesting lesson about this. Red food dye is in EVERYTHING.
Pink, purple and interestingly enough, black (which also rules out silver), were all out. After some research, I decided I could make something work with white and green, and I could use silver dragees for some added sparkle.
The end result was pretty cool. And pretty true to life.
You know, if bass guitars were made out of cake.
I hope the birthday girl enjoyed her special cake!
