TGIF!
And Happy National Donut Day!
(This is why we run, amirite? PS, this beauty was free with purchase of a beverage at Dunkin Donuts. And rumor has it Krispy Kreme is giving away free donuts as well.)
This week has been wet and soggy, thanks to a little something called Tropical Storm Andrea. Fortunately, it looks like she has passed, and we can get back to our lives.
And running.
Yes. It was a bad week for workouts. I’m kind of bummed because I could totally feel the momentum draining away. I even thought about going out a few times yesterday, but every time I made a move towards my sports bras, the next feeder band would start up, and the winds and rains would commence.
I’m just not a rain runner.
This morning, even though (and also, especially because) our weekend is tightly scheduled, I set the alarm and popped out of bed. The clouds were still swirling and tinged with red, which was a little disconcerting, but there was a nice, cool breeze and I did 1.5 miles. Nothing serious, and not what the 5-10K training app had scheduled for me, but I pushed hard on my pace and eased back into my routine. I did my distance in 15 minutes and felt great. A little sluggish because it’s been a few days, but that’s to be expected. Monday will mean a return to my routine.
I’ll also have an update on my surgery. My pre-op appointment is on Monday. As you can tell, I’m thrilled.
What’s your favorite kind of donut?
How are you planning to spend Saturday & Sunday?
Hope you have a great weekend!

Right now my weekends are packed. My husband is working 90 hour weeks which mean not break for me on the weekend. Luckily my two teenagers help with the younger one (7 year old) so I can get in a ride and a run on Saturday and Sunday. This weekend is full of soccer games, a National’s game if it isn’t rained out, a cub scouts party and a soccer party. Now, let’s get it done.

MMMM! Donuts or doughnuts, however you spell them I love them! forgot today was National Donut Day! I’ll have to celebrate it late! (Doesn’t quite fit with the Paleo-ish kick I’m on.) Not sure on my weekend plans, I’m hoping the train stays away! The Tropical Storm was a downer for me yesterday, too!

As long as it’s a “Paleo-ish” kick, it’s ok to have a do{ugh}nut.
I’m glad the storm is cleared up and gone. I’m not looking forward to hurricane season. 🙁

Running in the rain can be fun, but only if the rain is a) light and b) comes toward the end of your run. A torrential downpour is usually not my idea of a good time.
I don’t have a favorite donut per se, but I do love some cupcakes from Sticky Fingers Bakery here in DC.

That’s a great name for a bakery. We have a BBQ chain around here called Sticky Fingers.
I can handle a very light rain, but yeah. Downpours not so much.

I like the plain traditional cinnamon donut kind of girl. I also love jam filled ones, esp if they are hot… jammy goodness. Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy an iced donut every now and then (but the last time I had a donut was actually a few months ago and prior to that it was well over a year).
As for my weekend, well I tired Bikram Yoga for the first time (hot yoga), and I really enjoyed it, I also got new running shoes too, so I have a weekend filled of firsts.

Yum. Jam.
Oooh, I don’t know if I could handle Bikram yoga. Regular yoga and I aren’t friends, and the addition of heat just sounds like a bad idea. I’m glad you liked it.
What kind of shoes did you get?
