Yesterday, little man attended his last day of Kindergarten.
It seems like only yesterday we were attending the open house, meeting his teacher and sending him off to his first day of school.
He had the most wonderful year: wonderful teacher, great friends, and amazing experiences. We could not be more thrilled with how the school year went.
I had the privilege of being in the classroom for most of the day, helping organize and clean up. I loved watching the kids interact with each other and the teacher, and while I’m excited for the adventure that first grade will bring, I’m going to miss all the great things about Kindergarten, too.
We picked him up at the bus stop today. Miss M pulled the bus to a halt, horns blaring. She pulled a huge cooler out from under the bus and unloaded the kids, gathering them in front of her. Imagine our surprise when she thanked them all for a great year and started a huge water balloon fight. It was so awesome. I have never seen or heard of anything like it, but I loved that after a year of safely transporting the kids, they were all able to let loose like that.
And now, it’s summer. This is the first year that little man won’t be in summer camp for the duration. He will have a week here and there of structured activities, but for the most part, it’s just going to be us. We have been putting together an “in summer” jar for the days ahead.
I’m excited to see how many fun things we’ll get to do, and I’m excited about all the time we’ll get to spend together.
How are you planning to spend the summer?
Have you ever seen a bus driver instigate a water balloon fight on the last day of school?
