week 72: finish the party strong

five ways to honor mental health awareness month

race report: spud run 5k (5.7.2022)

would you rather – holiday edition

All the credit to Run Mum for this fun little post. If you haven’t checked out Run Mum yet, you should. Matilda lives in Australia and I love following her running adventures.

Are you ready?

Here we go.

Would you rather…

…Run a Christmas themed event in the heat or the snow?

Let is snow, let is snow, let it snow!

I imagine that snow brings its own set of challenges for runners, but when you live in Florida, where it’s hot even when it’s cold (at least, according to the folks up north), it would be neat to try something different.

…Sing / listen to Christmas songs during your run, or wear a Christmas outfit during your run?

I have a hard time listening to Christmas music while running, and we all know I love dressing up, so I would totally wear the Christmas outfit.

… A new running watch, or an entry fee to a running event?

Mr PugRunner just treated me to my new Forerunner 220, so I would like an entry fee to a running event.

Maybe this one?

… Go for a run before your Christmas meal or after?

Oh, before, before, before. I prefer running early in the morning anyway, but the thought of going running on a tummy full of Christmas goodies makes me queasy. Yuck.

…Listen to an Audiobook / Podcast on running, or read a book about running?

While I love reading, I am more of a fiction person. I have to be in the mood for informational or non-fiction, and right now, I’m not.

I did, however, discover Serial Podcast, and I am hooked. It also helps the time pass on those long runs.

… A year access to an online running coach or 5 one-on-one visits to a running coach?

I don’t know. On the one hand, I would be so intimidated to meet with someone face-to-face and actually have to run with or near or around them. On the other, I don’t know that I would get much out of an online coach. I would try but not having the in-person accountability might be an issue. So I guess the five one-on-one visits. It would be great to have some coaching.

… Give up your Christmas to help those in need (like a soup kitchen), or spend your Christmas with ALL your family?

Hmmm. I honestly think I would rather give up my Christmas to help in a soup kitchen or similar. Much as I love my family, I think it’s more important to give back when we can.

… Watch Love Actually or The Holiday?

Love Actually is one of my favorite Christmas movies. And this scene still brings me to tears.

… Ham or Chicken / Turkey for Christmas meal?

I don’t really eat ham, so I would prefer chicken or turkey. But I actually really like Italian on Christmas Day, rather than a meat and sides.

So which would you rather? Share some answers in the comments or share on your own blog and link back!

There is also an ice cream sundae race this summer. I love ice cream sundaes and if there is one waiting for me at the finish line? I’m so in.

Your snowwoman outfit is awesome! What a great idea! It would be so strange to me to run a Christmas race in shorts & t-shirts! We are running a race today and it’s going to be in the 30’s or even 40’s and without snow, which is unheard of for December here! I have heard good things about the serial podcast, but my iPod died so I’m podcast-less for now. I think audiobooks/podcasts are great for long leisurely runs but they cause me to daydream so much that I can’t use them when I’m trying to run fast.

LOL! It’s rare that I get to whip out the ear warmer, gloves and layers. But we do get 30s and 40s here, so it is cold.

The Serial Podcast is riveting. I don’t think I could daydream through any of it!

I must say that I do wish we could get a day or two of snow. It would be a welcome change.
