Second month of the year and we are cruising along quite nicely.
Sunday – rest
Our friends spent the night and hung out with us through breakfast. After they left, we joined my parents at a delicious, local Spanish restaurant to celebrate Papa Bear’s birthday. We enjoyed sangria, Cuban bread, paella and all kinds of yumminess.
And then it was off to a Superbowl party! Even though it was a little on the chilly side, it was great to watch the game outside around a roaring fire.
Monday – rest
School was closed on Monday, and so we were trying to come up with something fun to do after my boot camp. Unfortunately, the weekend of late nights, hard playing and general craziness had caught up to little man. For about eight hours, he was a lethargic, miserable bunny rabbit. He napped for half that time and woke up, ravenous and pretty much back to himself. It was the craziest thing, but I spent the entire day with him in bed, watching movies when he felt like it, making sure he was drinking fluids and trying to keep him as comfortable as possible.
We were so glad it wasn’t anything serious, but man, it is rough when the little ones don’t feel well.
Tuesday – 3.1 miles
We decided it would be a good idea to keep little man home again, although he was far less cooperative about taking it easy and lounging around than he had been on Monday. He did rest long enough for me to take a run, though, which was nice.
Fortunately Nana and Papa Bear paid a visit in the afternoon to help break things up. They brought all kinds of goodies, including The Boxtrolls on DVD and some Pokemon cards, and the whole visit brightened our day immensely.
Wednesday – arms
Back to school! Little man to class and me to a PTA meeting. We are working on some great events, so it’s always fun to help put them together.
In the afternoon, I did some arm work with 8lb dumbbells.
Thursday – 3.1 miles
I had to help out at school in the morning, and then pick up some last minute things at the store.
It was one of those days when I absolutely needed to run. I typically don’t like going out in the afternoon
but I am so glad I did.
PR! I only have to shave off another 2:54 seconds in the next eight months. I’m calling it progress.
After the stress of the week, Mr PugRunner took us out for a sushi dinner. It was just what we needed and I was very grateful for the breather.
Friday – arms
For real, I was going to work out, but I figured that a long day of icing layers of cake and rolling out fondant was just as much exercise as lifting weights. I really can justify anything, if I try hard enough.
I also got a very special package in the mail!
Our race shirt blanket, courtesy of Project Repat! I cannot wait to share more details with you this week.
Saturday – rest
Mr PugRunner took little man to karate and breakfast in the morning and baseball in the afternoon so that I had time to finish up the cake. It had to be delivered right near my parent’s house, so I planned to visit over there and then we would all meet up for dinner.
Success!
I turned in early, ready to get a jump on a new week.
Have you ever had a “needed” run turn into one of your best ones ever?
How was your week in training?

Glad little man is feeling better! You’re definitely making great progress with your time, and THAT CAKE! I bet it was as tasty as it looks too! Mmm cake.
My training has not yet started. The treadmill arrived (they left it in the middle of the driveway!) but the mat for it to sit on is first coming today. I have antique wood floors, so needed to wait for that before taking it out of the box. But soon, I will be back at it! I actually am looking forward to it. I think…

In the age old battle of treadmill vs. wood floors, the floors win. Every. Time.
LOL! You’ve got this! And spring is coming, too!

Oh man I love the runs that turn out AWESOME. Unfortunately I didn’t do anything this past week. I’ve been nursing a mysteriously sore foot. Gonna try my regular yoga class tonight before I commit to runs or HIIT workouts.

Oh, no! I hope everything is ok! I hate when those bizarre pains turn up. I hope yoga goes well for you and you can get back out there!

I am so sorry the little one wasn’t feeling well, that’s just no good!
I just love those runs where you don’t really want to do it, but at the same time you are compelled to do so. They always give you so much satisfaction!
I have that same blue singlet in three colors, it is so light I absolutely love it!
And that cake… Amazing!

I love this Garmin, too!
Today was long sleeves. We go back and forth with the weather. Today is almost 70 and later in the week, it will be back in the 30s at night. Sigh.
