Another Friday, another week linking up for Friday Five, with three amazing DC area bloggers: Mary at Mar On the Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up For What?! and Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC. Feel free to join the fun with your own Friday Five post and be sure to visit and comment on the other blogs on the linkup!
This week’s topic? A day in the life.
1. Rise and shine! I’m up anytime time between 5 and 6:30, depending on my morning plans. Now that it’s warmer, I have to plan to be up earlier for runs to combat the heat. On alternating days, I can opt for boot camp as early at 5:00 AM, so we will see how that goes. After that, it’s time to get little man and the pugs up and fed. I make his lunch while he gets dressed, brushes his teeth, makes his bed, feeds the fish and practices his spelling words or catches up on any reading or homework. Then I drive car pool to school.
2. Morning madness. I have about six hours before little man gets home, and I try to make the most of it. I tend to divide my weekdays between errands and domestic stuff (aka Mount Laundry), volunteering at school and working.
3. After school and extracurriculars. When little man gets home from school, we take a little breather for a snack, and then hop right back into it. We will go to karate two to three times a week, attend two to three baseball games or practices and then the other nights go to homework and hanging out. Things will ease up once baseball season ends and we will be able to spend more time bike riding and just enjoying our neighborhood.
4. Dinner. We eat home most nights during the week. I am awful at meal planning and prep but I am trying to get better about it. It would probably make things go more smoothly.
5. Bedtime! Little man hits the sack around 7:30 and 8:00 is when we start to wind down. We will sit with the TV on. I will blog and Mr PugRunner will catch up on work. If he gets the remote first, we will watch sports. If I get to it, we watch a movie or maybe a show that we share (right now, the only one we watch is Gotham). By 9:00, I am so very ready for bed, although it takes me forever to fall asleep.
And that’s it. Nothing too glamorous, I’m afraid.
What are five thing that are part of your regular routine? Share in the comments or link up!

I love day in the life posts!
Breakfast is ALWAYS a part of my routine. I understand that some people can’t eat in the mornings, but that is so not me haha

I used to hate breakfast with a passion. It’s still not my favorite meal of the day, and I usually don’t enjoy a large one, but I find that my day goes much better with something in my stomach before I get moving.

I love your honesty about who ever controls the remote. I’m the dominate remote handler in my household.
I wake up pretty early with little man and then use the time after he goes back for his early nap to get most of my chores done. Then it’s go, go, go until after the kid’s bedtime.
Good luck at Gate tomorrow!!

LOL! I really don’t enjoy a lot of tv. I like the sound in the background, but I’d rather watch a movie, if we’re being honest.
I will be honest. I love naps. If I can take one after lunch, before little man gets home, I absolutely do!
Thank you!

For traveling so much for my job I always enjoy staying in to eat when I am home. It is much healthier too.

I love to eat out. I love big salads with lots of stuff but I’m not motivated to chop all those veggies. I’m a bad, bad veggie chopper. But, it’s better for us to stay in, so we make an effort to do so.

Busy lady! I’m trying to be better at meal planning, too. When I do it I always save so much money at the grocery store, but sometimes it’s hard to want to cook after a busy day haha!

I don’t mind cooking, so much. We have a crockpot and a few recipes I like, but I’m afraid to leave it on all day (I’m so weird about that). My time management needs work, and it’s challenging with a certain 6 year old scrutinizes and judges meals with a rather critical eye.

This year I would like to change my schedule so I run in the morning (spring/summer). Also trying to get better at meal planning.

I do so much better when my run/workout is done and out of the way. That way it’s not hanging over my head. Good luck!

I think there is something special about the ordinary, everyday events. I love the early morning when our house is quite and I can drink my tea/coffee and have some “me” time 🙂

You are absolutely right. We’re at a point in our lives, where I do kind of enjoy the normal and everyday.
christine @ accidentally running mama says
Your routine is very similiar to mine. The after school activities is what makes me crazy!

We are really looking forward to talking a break from some of our sports after this season. I think we could all use the downtime.

We do the same thing…he gets the remote, we watch the news. I get it, we watch something I have on DVR…..gotta get there first!!
